So it seems like LOTRO has some staying power, at least on this site.

What are your thoughts since release? Will it continue? For how long? I think it opened at 8.5 and only went down .1, I noticed some of the other games go up by .1.

Definately saw an increase in less mature people, I don't want to repeat some of the OOC conversations I've seen. The dungeons are nothing new, but some of the boss fights are pretty fun. Still having a good time.

I am having a blast

Yesterday, I decided that I would try and do all the quests in the shire just to see how many there are.  I am at 75 and I am still finding more!!  Thats JUST in the Shire....and I am enjoying the stories that go along with them.

The haters can go ahead and hate..I am having fun.

Lord of the Rings Online is a solid game. I really believe that this is the first decent mmorpg to be released since World of Warcraft. After going through crap like DDO and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes... it's nice to play a game who's subscription I'm actually going to re-new. There is so much to like in this game and things are only going to get better with June's content update and the future "free updates" that we get.

My only real complaint is that I think I level a little too quickly. With the level cap being at just 50... I think we're going to see a lot of "50" characters by the end of June. On top of that, I've heard some grumbling about the lack of end-game content. Of course, this will all get better over the coming months but right now... it could be a little problematic for the more "hardcore" gamers.

With all of that said... the game is a lot of fun! I just suggest you not blowing through the content too quickly. Which shouldn't be to hard because there's a lot to do and a lot to explore. Kudos to Turbine for making a great game! I wish them much more success in the future.

I can see why the game would be good for some people tbh i found it incredibly dull, the music system is great though

I think this game is going to lose a lot of people when Warhammer and Conan come out.  Especially Warhammer.  Right now WoW is getting old and people are looking for a new game and though there are some games that have tried to be like WoW there isn't really a game like WoW.  Warhammer is going to be that next big game I believe and people will start jumping ship from both WoW and LOTRO to play it.

A lot of us are waiting for AoC, WAR and TR to appear, and LotRO is a very nice placeholder until they do.  It's a very nice game, extremely polished and a lot of fun.  And how can you not like the silly hobbitses.  Shire has far more quests, btw, than the elf and dwarf lands which converge quickly and get you thru to Bree ASAP.  You can spend many levels in the Shire alone, though.  In fact, it seems that hobbit-lands in general can give you a lot of quests.  Staddle (outside Bree) has a bunch of them too.  As does Buckland.  Haven't travelled south of the Shire yet, though I see a road leading there.  Dunno if that's even a playable zone yet.

The content will come for the upper levels.  I anticipate the level cap will rise over the years too.  Let's face it, how long do you really want to wait for a game to release?  At least this one is very polished and ready to roll on release.  You can PLAY the first 35-40 levels and have a blast.  Does get a bit repetitive since all races converge on Bree at around lvl 15, but that's OK.  There's still plenty of different things to do and routes to take, while the Epic series of quests keep you on the overarcing storyline.  Auction House and Mail aren't a "oh, we're working on that" like most new games.  Very few crash problems if your rig can handle it.  Graphics are gorgeous.  All in all, this is what I think games should look like on release.  Playable, all basic systems "go", and then they work on the higher level content for future updates.

I agree on most of that, basically heres the things i liked and disliked about the game sincei was a bit vague a vew mins ago lol

good things:

- music system, i spent most of my time playing instruments in the game with other people, it was great fun, wish more mmos had things like this

- no bugs/very polished, this is something you expect from every game you buy, mmo devs seem to think its okay to release buggy games, I think turbine has set a good example with lord of the rings hope everyone else follows suite.

- quests are quite hard/challenging, specifically the timed quests, you actually have to be quick on timed quests from what i experienced, they arn't like in wow where you get 1 hour to kill 5 mobs lol The ones in the shire for the quick post were great its the first mmo where i have had to redo a quest 10 times to complete and actually feel like i accomplished somthing.

-traits/deeds these are nice, I think they arnt as varied as they could be and not as usefull but a good idea overall

- a main story, interesting quests, not just made up on the spot tosh for a change.

Things i dont like:

quests although they have good story lines they all boildown to go kill this, go collect that go deliver this, i can only take so much of that, its a shame they didnt show some orginatility when they did the storyies so well

PvM this is a good idea but really badly implemented, the fact that you need to wait till theres alot of high levels for it to be considered pvp is the main flaw, seen as how you can get a level 50 avatar at level 10, they should of made it a level 10 avatar, so that you could level up and pvp with others at the same time, a bit like the wow bgs.

The quests are badly labeled, i had one quest that said get a group, i finnally got bored of trying to get one so i tried solo it, and was really annoyed at how easy was to do ><

Some quests also say soloable but even when you outlevel them they are hard to solo, if not impossible at any level where the quest rewards are worthwhile

Very little experience from mobs, i know this game is ment to be quest driven, but it just feels like grinding when you get the kill x of this y of that etc quests rather than progress.

At level 35 theres so much group content, this is an mmo yes, but standing around for an hour plus is not what i call fun, i rerolled a minstrel because i couldnt get into groups with the 2 dps classes i tried.

that brings me to my next point, theres only 1 healer and you need to have one to do any group quests, that would be fine if healers were the most played class but they arnt which is a pain, you end up waiting for a minstrel most of the time, tanks though are easy to get since most of the dps classes are good enough tanks for the group quests, not so much instances.

Overall i think this game has potential, maybe in a few months when theres more content and if im not playing something else ill give it another go.

It might be good...or not.

I will never know, nor do I care.

After I read this is ending in raiding, like EQ, WoW, EQ2, Vanguard and other, I didn't bother considering it anymore.  And since it come from devs who raiding they go, ho ho ho...well, I wouldn't trust anything that contradict that...ever.

Add the disappointment I have in DDO...

Yeah, I guess I can be unforgiving sometimes...

That's been said, I am happy some peoples are enjoying it.  Good gaming, I will pass on that one.

I'm  disappointed with LOTR online.  The graphics (other than character movement) are great, but I think they went the SOE way instead of the WOW way.  SOE put so much emphasis on group play after the first few levels that one could not play without a group.  WOW allows a character to level all the way up alone if he wishes to do so.  I wish LOTR had followed the WOW model and because it did not I've already canceled my subscription.  Some of us are just not fellowship people before we get to the end game.

Don't take it too seriously. The poll is bias toward certain games because

1. Certain fanbases populate MMORPG.com more then others

2. Certain fanbases are more prone to vote. I suppose this is to justify their purchase of the game by seeing the high rating.

3. Trolls for specific games populate MMORPG.com more then others

A high rating on MMOPRG.com just means you have alot of fans on MMORPG.com

I personally thing a game's popularity can be judged by the amount of trolls rather then fanboys. LOTRO is not in the same league as other games just yet in that department.

What you consider to be a strength in WOW many folks consider to be a huge weakness in WOW's game design......

WOW's soloability is nice, but comes at a price.  There really is no reason to belong to a guild or group with other people until you get to the end game raiding/instances which can make for very lonely gaming.  Guilds get reduced to friendly chat rooms and not much else.....

Its wierd how I hear some people complaining about lotro how you need fellowships too much and others complaining about the ease of solo play. Could it be that both are right and it happens to be a great balanced game? Thats what i think anyway.

The game was way too simplistic. Couldn't stand it

There is less than 200k people playing this game. And when WAR and AOC come out, noboby will be playing this game.
