Okay i have never watched the sopranos before, if you dont know what it is, its a mafia TV series on HBO, i have recently just gotten into the last season so the marathon was showing most of the previous seasons. So i started watching it and A&E is a prime time TV channel meaning its on regular cable channels. Yet they bleep out the nudity, the sex and the foul language but when it came to people getting their brains shot out of their head that was ok. For instance this guy was shot in his head pieces of his brain and blood went every where. They also show a guy getting beat to death with a club and more very horrifying violent acts.
SO how come this is okay? yet nudity and foul language isnt? |

Because the minority of people responsible for the restrictions on Basic Cable channels are very very stupid. Also only the 4 main network channels like Fox,CBS,ABC, and NBC(to a smaller extent CW and MNT) have the restrictions enforced. All other channels requiring a paid subscription can pretty much show whatever they want. However they censor themselves to prevent complaining which leads to the loss of advertisors which leads to the loss of funding. Personally I blame the advertisors for bailing out at even the smallest hint of controversy. You can't blame the networks because they WILL lose the advertisors that pay for their programming, and you can't really blame the viewers because 95% don't give a crap or at least would never lodge any formal complaint if they did. You will see on many paid channels, even the basic cable ones, the use of foul language and nudity from time to time. The Riches on FX uses "Shit" and other such language all the time. Remember South Park had that episode where they said "Shit" 100 or more times. The censorship is self censorship and so they figure they can let some things slide as long as they know the people actually watching the particular show don't have a right to complain because of the type of show they admit to watching.
***I just want to state that this is the way I believe it works and that I haven't actually read or heard from a reliable source that the paid channels are no regulated but commit self censorship.

More importantly, what I want to know is, why do they show Pizzaland in the starting credits when there's a ton of other better pizza places in Belleville/Nutley than Pizzaland on the Belleville Turnpike? :)
