Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?

i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

i have never listened to her myself, but usualy people that have shows based on what they think should be morraly correct for everyone are nut jobs and i would be willing to bet she is even worse at home on the kids.

I hardly consider someone who is vocal about what they think are absolute morals to be a nut-job. That's your personal opinion, but quite insubstantial as some type of evidence as to saying she is deranged, and has insane morals.

And it's an assumption as to how she treated her kids.

So the dude ended up psycho, sometimes that's really no fault of the parent.

Really nothing shocking about it. I could go into a myriad of definitions explaining why alot of people could think that, and not be so wrong, but it's pointless.

Fact of the matter is, when the point of an organism is to grow, sustain, and carry over it's "lineage" in some form, having a organism that is incapable of that, is in fact a biological error.

If you hear you parents saying stuff like that, then how do you figure a kid knows where to draw the line?  I admit that my dad is very racist, and I grew up around him hearing stuff that you would never want me to repeat here. 

Your dad may have been racist, but did he ever say or even elude to you something along the lines of, "Son...let's go shoot ourselves a colored folk!"

And now you're all grown up, a grand wizard of the KKK, blowing up every black person you see. Or rather, making drawing or stories about that.

Which in the end, your dad being racist, leading you to have myspace background with racial slurs is logical.

One woman with conservative morals giving birth to a child that ends up a psycho is nary the same thing, and even trying to correlate it, is nothing but a smear campaign against a woman who's values you disagree with.

It's despicable

I love the guy to death, but it sickens me what he says sometimes.  But growing up, I thought that was normal.  And it took a long time for me to get over it. 

Her son is still fairly young, and that stuff she says is probably still stuck in his head.  And to think she spews that stuff on the air to people who take refuge in her words.

This reflects on Dr. Laura because she gives out advice on family and relationships. I am surpirsed noone has mentioned that Dr. laura also cheated on her husband with a married man at one point in her life. I have listened to her show and she is not too sensitive. If the verbal beatings she deals to her callers transfer to her family I could easily see a correlation. I dont know her so I wont make assumptions on that though. While most times i agree with her advice I still question her integrity.

If God is an omnipotent Lord that makes no errors, then how can there be biological errors? 

Free will. If Adam never fail, then the argument would be valid. But it's like asking, "Why God did you let my mom die in a car accident?"

And if God prevented everything that he considered bad from happening, he'd be considered a tyrant.

I thought we were all born our certain way to have our own personal struggles so we could learn what it was we have to learn. 

You think God thinks to himself, "hey...Let's make this kid mentally handicapped so he can learn what it is he has to learn!"

God doesn't afflict people. But to me, God finds the good in everything, he can use affliction, hardship, etc. To do as you say, help us learn what we need to. But He doesn't go around blowing off peoples limbs so they can learn something.

Or, as I once heard it said, "you cannot go against nature, because when you do, that's part of nature too." 

That's a poor argument, because that can be said for anything.

Think of any horrible thing anyone could ever do, and the could use that as an excuse. It doesn't cut it.

Or put another way, according to your "logic" anyone who enters the priesthood and lives a voluntary celibate life is committing a natural crime.  Oh, noooooo!

I actually believe that is against the plan of God, yes. And it messes alot of them up mentally.

Do I think the Pope is an immoral man cause he doesn't get freaky with the ladies? Of course not. But it clearly outlines in the bible...He created the opposite sexes for a reason.

And outside of all that, who is the decider of natural and not natural?  Someone being born sterile is not able to reproduce, yet that's the way they were naturally born. 

How do you judge whether someone is ugly, average, or attractive?

Comparison.

The majority of human beings, and organisms for that matter, are inherently created to reproduce. Having an inability to do that, is in contradiction with their kind.

If it was natural to be sterile, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Genetic error?  Well, to turn the spin around on an argument I hear a lot, no because wouldn't that have been taken out of the gene pool by now? 

No, why would it? There are alot of errors in our genes.
Biological error?  I don't think so, it happened naturally, and I don't think God makes oopsies!  He made that person sterile for a reason!
