I can't believe people pay $14.99 a month to play this game. From the screenshots it looks like I could have played this back in 1985, graphics are retarded. Why does everyone charge $14.99 to play their crappy games. ugh!

Sounds like Battlefield on steriods, that's pretty much what interested me to order it and try it out. I hope I'm right.

No, according to his bio, he would have been 4 or 5 years old in 85.

I graduated from college in 80. I'm getting old, I don't recommend it to anyone. ugh...

The same statement. The graphics while not stand alone quality are always improving. The reason they are not standalone quality is that Standalones have 200x200 METER map which use fog, bldgs etc to reduce the view distance so they can have vehicles players bldgs of high numbered polygons. WW2OL..has a 6K view distance and must be able to show 128 players in your view, look left..another 128 players, look right...128 and so on. Graphics must be budgeted so that people will be able to play with good FPS, view 6k..more in the air and see, show players, dead bodies, tanks, tank hulks, towns, bldgs, roads, bridges, trees, bushes. And rermember that the state of the art physics model is grinding your CPU at all times. Each round is tracked for 3k...EACH. The speed energy, angle of flight..angle of penetration, damage to the component(no hit bubble), loss of energy due to the damage, speed of exit, angle of exit, amout of spalling produced, concussion effect(if any) produced, and all this is tracked and sent to the front ends till the round is spent or 3k is reached. Graphics are good, gameplay is best..gameplay for me always. SH4 is pretty but I think the gameplay is flawed. SH4 will soon come off my machine, WW2OL has been on since the first iteration of beta in June of 2000.

There is not a single game which you can compare to this one, i would be happy if any company would create a game with super great graphics, the same huge territory, the same very long view of serveral miles and of course realistic and historical correct equipment as good as possible as well penetration calculation, degree of impacts etc... The only 2nd mmopg is planetside, but its a science fiction mmopg without any realism or deeper content/territorial fights like this game offers.

But unfortunately no game exist still which could compete with this one here and give the thrill they are looking for, thats why they pay the monthly fee. There is also another reason, the game development didnt stuck and every several months new content and patches are beeing released, heck they plan even to release a new engine this or next year and players stick with the hope even it takes long and the rats promise often too much. In 1985 you could play only pac man game types on your c64, even only 7 years ago the game did look quiete different and curren game graphics would run in minus fps digits on your system at this time. Just do a research and watch the screenshots 5 years ago and now, totally different game and graphics. But the most imporatant, people dont play it for the graphics they play it for the game content, you will forget fast about the graphics if you really into this game and instead concentrate on your fights on the battlefield. This game is a hardcore simulation mmopg and not just a shoot em up like all other games, its a niche game and not developed for the mass, its just the best world war 2 sim game you can get at the moment.

This game rocks... some people even pay $1000 for a lifetime suscription.. so figure it!.

This game has more diversity than any other MMOG"ScriptRolePlaying" out there.

This isn't an issue in 2007.

What really kills there ability to upgrade the graphics is all the calculations they do. That part is impressive.

And the almost 10 year old engine...they did start to develop the engine in the late 90ies, dont forget that guys

But they did squeeze out amazing graphics from this old engine....when you compare to the pictures in the first 2 years after release. Hope to see soon pictures with the new engine they are working on.

Also, We pay for MMO's because if we didnt the game companys would just release the game and forget about it(with bug fixes every once and awhile) BUT NO! THESE RATS ACTUALY UPDATE THE GAME WITH NEW EQUIPMENT AND NEW VEHICLES EVERY 2 OR 3 MONTHS! ITS WORTH THE MONEY! AND THERE ISNT A WWII ONLINE PLAYER SUBSCRIBED THAT WILL TELL YOU OTHERWISE! (also its only a 64 player visual limit not 128, sorry to burst your bubble)

If you have the computer for it you can set it for 128 player.  You need a real high end machine however.

Life can be tapped

Probably be because not everyone is driven by how flashy graphics are.

You should try the game, look past the graphics and play the game for what it is, the only true pvp game with next to no AI.

Life can be tapped
