why do today, that which you can put off till tomorrow |
from gameshark.com "While each class and corresponding God impacts how you play the game in distinct ways, all are suited for combat. Gods and Heroes distinguishes itself from other massively multiplayer online games in focusing more on action than nearly any other aspect of gameplay. Combat occurs in real-time with presses of the mouse buttons and keyboard for special abilities. From what little time we had with the game, combat feels surprisingly intuitive, particularly within this genre. Pulling off combination attacks is your main goal and is not too dissimilar to a console action games. There isn't a hit counter or combo gauge, but you are rewarded with added damage when using special skills or landing particularly solid hits. Unlike other MMOs, though, all of these spectacular attacks are animated in full. No more gaps between attacking parties or unapt animations--slice an enemy across the neck and you see it happen in real-time. This instantly makes combat particularly engaging, showcasing a wide range of action and flair."

Sounds a lot like AoC.
I'm not saying that they're stealing from Funcom, or anything, because both systems sound really fun |

i do not know whether there is an auto-attack, but assumed there is and you click (or press the appropriate hotkey) for the skills and combos. i think the videos are edited to just look at the 'tie up' moves that players and mobs can do - which make the combat look slower than it actually is

Hehe, gameshark seem to have written a AoC/GnH combo there. Sloppy work :(
GnH has more or less a "locked" combat system(it's not really locked, but for the lack of a better word) because every mob has different animations and reacts different on your attacks. The combat is more "animated" so to speak. PE has also taken into account the fact that you have minions to control and that's a whole other business on itself. These combat animations give you just that extra time to plan the actions of your minions. It's more strategic combat than any other MMO has ever seen. |
