Over the weekend, Blizzard launched a teaser page showing a timeline of the games they have produced over the years with the final date on the timeline having nothing more than a question mark. Rumors have been flying around for the past few weeks as to what Blizzard's new game will be, with most speculating that it will be a StarCraft MMO, while others are guessing it will be a Diablo MMO, or perhaps something new entirely. We'll all have to wait until the 19th to find out.

Hopefully it will be a new IP, that page should have shown Blizzard that they have depended on those 3 franchises for too long

If it's a new IP, the better question is what genre will they conquer next?

well, it's about time they branch off from Fantasy. or maybe they are too set in their old ways to change? hrm...
i would love for it to be anything StarCraft. SC 2 or MMO... although, i'm more inclined to SC2 over another MMO. although, again, i would like to see more MMOs that aren't Fantasy based. so sick of them all being that. same old crap and so on.

Since they're making the announcement at the Worldwide Invitational in Korea on May 19th, I would guess it's Starcraft related, since that is still a huge game there, probably Starcraft 2.

It will be Starcraft MMO.

 

I just hope they have a double subscription fee discount, like 19.95 or maybe even 22.95/mo for both.

I'm really crossing my fingers for SC2... I'd rather they didn't make it into a MMO. WoW is an amusing waste of time, but while the lore and the chars are the same, the actual game play has very little to do with any of the WarCraft games.

I still enjoy playing BroodWar, and I'd really really love to see StarCraft 2 out, rather than they hack'n'slash it into an MMO mold.

However, given the insane success of WoW, I highly doubt they'll be making another RTS anytime soon. Unless they've figured out a way to do so and make it into an MMO.

Ah darn... Fallout is a really good game but if a screen shot, with sound and fallout 3 on the page is more  to look forward to then, well..bleh...

Thats dumb because if they did it would be like: "Ok we have a new blizzard game, it's set in the Starcraft universe we will call it: Starcraft: Ghost we'll put it on a console, the Game Cube, and release a launch date put up some pics and info about it". *Several delayed years latter* "Ok, this game would be better on the Xbox 360 better graphics and it works for that console." That can't be right... It's not like Blizzard to delay a game so poorly like a SC game. OK, they did do that but if they want to release a new Starcraft game what is it, a new MMO now? or a Diablo MMO? No one knows this is true or not?
Hell you know if they did SC Ghost I'd buy a 360 just for that. Where or where is SC ghost?

Well IMO if They did do something with SC they better do it right. I'd be damn amazed and very excited to hear just slight news if they did a SC2 (because I'm a SC fan to begin with) and if they did do an MMO for SC, I would hope that they will pull away from the norm of MMO's and do a whole new system. Obviously it would have to be Sci-FI  I would think. No Elves, Witches, spell casting etc etc. None of that .I'd  like something new and I know Blizzard can pull that off!

Granted, they still have their highly popular WoW to work with but I think that our very best friends: SC and Diablo really needs an update with a new game.

For now there will just be Battle.net which is not so bad anyways I still like it, its really fun for SC but give us a new game or something 

Speaking of which did anyone check out when you beat warcraft III (or was it WC III frozen throne...?) Anyways, when you beat the game did everyone like SC with the WCIII engine? Said Blizzard: "no this is not SC 2 it's just SC with the WCIII engine"

tbh, i've always wanted a Fallout MMO. well not ALWAYS, but pretty damn near close. ;P

Is there any news on "Starcraft 2/MMO" if they are going to do it/ What is it going to be?
I really agree with you on 3 points:

1. WoW is crazy popular
2.Possibly not making an RTS soon
3.Hack 'n' slash MMO mold

on the positive side:

1 SC2!!
2.If they can pull off a fusion of RTS meet MMO some how. Go from a RTS too a MMO kinda thing.
3.They made Warcaft from a RTS to a MMO and I would have no worries that they can do the same with SC 

I'm looking forward to this announcement, but whatever it is, it probably won't be out for quite sometime. None-the-less, it will be good to know what they're working on.

If it's another Blizzard MMO, fine. If it's another Starcarft, cool with that. If it's yet another diablo, good. If it's something new, yay. Whatever it is, I want to know.
