I was a happy sub during the reserves...but without the much needed life that provided it doesnt provide the scale I was enjoying. SOE should bring back reserves!
Playing: EVE, WAR, Cybernations lol |

I've played this game on and off since release. Been almost 2 years since my last try I will resub and give it a try.

Originally posted by society Honestly, It seems allot of reserves did subscribe; I did not see a drastic drop in population when it was over. Of course, this is my observations, and others may have other stories. There is an even longer list coming on the horizon, I only posted the items that were just added, or next to be added, but just about every "Play style" is getting some new toys and abilities in the comming months. |

I was a Reserve myself and did Sub not long after. I played the game for 3 odd months afterwards, but it just got to boring for me. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun as hell. But It's so much of the same every time you play that it gets boring after a while.
I may resub with these changes, we'll see. |

I've been playing off & on since release and right now I'm enjoying the hell out of it with my 8 year old playing too. So nice to get away from grinding and raiding and item based games! Just last night we had some awesome back and forth fights VS vs TR on Emerald/Easmir. Just incredible marches of vehicles with lasers and shells flying all over.. nothing nothing nothing like it right now!
If you are tired of tab target, click, go brain dead gameplay.. resub ! |

i have station access, so i play this game on the side, i think its good for what it is, a large scale online fps, but it lacks staying power for me. sure, its fun to log on for a bit, join a squad and kill some guys, conquer some bases etc..., but i could never keep it up for long as it just gets repetetive. that said, its very good for when i only have a short time to play or when i'm bored of a traditional mmo. i think everyone should at least give it a shot, because it really is a very fun game.
but id never play it as my main/only mmo. played: EQ, EQ2, PS, WoW, CoX, VSoH, GW, LotRO ones that don't suck: PS, EQ, EQ2 main mmo: EQ2 waiting for: Darkfall(if it ever comes out), PotBS (sounds good) |

Here is a link to a sort of "Future timeline" for implementing things, its somewhat vague as it of course was made before they really started putting things on paper and designing it, but it will give you a glimpse to the thinking of the developers and the pace they hope to achieve. Development for the next quarter |

Mrbloodworth, how's the population?
I haven't played since last Summer, but the biggest problem I noticed was a lack of combat throughout many hours of the day. I played from release for about a year afterwards and had a blast, but a lot of my Outfit members left, and then I did as well. I came back for Core Combat, but was wildly dis-impressed with the "caving" system. All in all, I still loved the game though, it was just the lack of players that took me out of it. Has this been remedied? |

I played for a few years, but after BFRs came out and the population tanked hardcore, the game really lost its allure. I might check it out. I might not.

Not going to lie, its is not a huge as it once was. But its not barren or dead by any means. Join the emerald server.
You will still see large battle, but not everywhere, and you will see different small encounter tactics than before.

Don't waste your money. I could go on all day about why shouldn't play this game; hell- it got 3 years out of me before I realized it was not going to improve. This game has been on a downward slide since almost immediately after release- both in terms of quality and playerbase. At best; 5,000 people still regularly play this game. SOE is no longer looking to actively develop and improve this game. They pawn off minor updates achieved over several months as "development." ... the result of a few SOE employee's otherwise "idle time" in between working on SOE's more successful projects. PlanetSide itself has no dedicated team; a single community relations person/manager last I checked. Over 300,000 have come through PlanetSide; and all of them have moved on in under 3 years time; there are a multitude of reasons for this- the most obvious being this game is not worth your time or money. This thread is an act of desperation from a community watching it's game die that refuses to let go. Why do you refuse to let go? You are only delaying progress. Every day that PlanetSide manages to cling to life is another day that it is present to remind others in the business why NOT to make MMOFPS games. Think about how much progress was made in the MMORPG genre within 4 years of the release of Ultima Online. Where is that progress in the MMOFPS genre? It is not there. And why? Because Ultima Online wasn't a colossal failure! Ultima Online did not lose 95% of every subscriber it ever had in two years time and then barely manage to stand on it's own legs; but remain visible enough to serve as a warning to others thinking of entering that market. That's PlanetSide. That's SOE. That's the PlanetSide community. Half of them are willfully ignorant suckers who continue to let SOE take their money in the continued false hope of the turn around that isn't going to come; cheerleaders through and through. The other half are self-hating fans that get about the same enjoyment out of PlanetSide as a smoker gets out of cigarettes he is hopelessly addicted to after losing his health and various pieces of his body tissue to disease and cancer. Head over to the PlanetSide Gameplay Discussion forum- http://forums.station.sony.com/ps/forums/show.m?forum_id=3 and see it for yourself. |

Lol- There are no true MMOFPS game in the works. Huxley has still failed to demonstrate or make claims that the FPS element will take place on a massive scale. Twilight War is cancelled. Lost Colony is a scam. That indy project- Versus; a PlanetSide clone being worked on by a handful of disgruntled planetside vets is vapoware... and Tabula Rasa is MMOFPS-like with a focus on fighting AI monsters, using dice rolls to calculate damage and a non-PvP focus. Pwnd. |

I am a true disciple of MMOFPS- you are a blaspheming PlanetSide hethen who hasn't learned yet.
