how can you not swim in this game i read something 5min ago saying you cant swim i am very exited and am going to pre order today but i dont want to be on the beach and try to go in the water and have an invisible wall are you kiding me that would suck. what do you guys think about this.

As strange as it sounds, learning to swim back then didn't happen. This was for a few reasons. One being that if you knew how to swim just incase the ship went down then the ship would go down, bad omen, murphy's law, whatever. Another reason is that if the ship did go down they wanted quick deaths, swimming prolonged it. The didn't have rescue helicopters or radios so rescue wasn't really an option. So if in potbs you could go into the water after about nose deep you should drown and die.

Would suck to fall into the water because of lag and see your galleon you just bought after saving for months sail away

To solve this issue they could give everyone a free dolphin pet that they can hang onto and travel at amazing speeds. Maybe at later levels the dolphins could be upgradeable with jet packs giving them limited flight!

I dunno about the historical accuracy, just seems a little strange you cant swim in a game that's all about ummm, water. Won't stop be from buying it, just seems a little off. |

a sailor that cant swim? that's the most ridiculous thing i ever heard. does anyone have any links about this to confirm "historical accuracy" or is that just bs cuz it sure sounds like it.
also every pirate movie i ever saw always had pirates that knew how to swim so i doubt they just didnt know how to back then. anyone who is gonna be on the water for any time should at least prepare themselves by knowing how to swim. if the ship never goes down they still might want to cool off given some free time.

I heard they aren't going to let you spend two minutes stuffing packing, black powder, and a lead ball down the muzzle of your pistols before you fire a single shot!! completely ruins immersion for me. I mean come on whats the point of playing a game about pirates if we are incapable of catching scurvy too?!?!? WHERE"S THE REALISM PEOPLE!!!!
