LOTRO is being posted a lot on the WoW forums.. In retaliation, there making casual posts here on how they didnt like LOTRO when in actuallity they dont own the game and just want to turn people away from it. This is the kind of player that plays WoW. Sick and twisted, I dont even know if there human beings. LOTRO is a great game, dont let the WoW fanbois turn you away from this. Im a 2 year WoW player and I can say, WoW is a timesink and not even a fun one.

Or you think that your post, and the spam you mention in it, makes the community with you in it a good one?

Honestly: Many wow fanboy posts where uninformed and stupid, but you proven that LOTRO fanboys like you can be far more uninformed, arrogant, agressive and stupid. A good way to turn people away from the game :)

Allthough the guy above me types it a bit harsh i'd have to agree on some point.Posting about wow fanboys and then making a statement on all wow players is just as bad.I can understand why you don't like the fact that some people could have bad intentions when posting negative but don't take them all on the same line.Makes you look just as bad.

i do not understand all this hostility...i have played WoW for almost 2 years, got the high level (then) and got bored by the grinding..then looked for another mmorpg and found none..played vanguard and got scared away by the bugs..(such a shame...the crafting in vanguard is perfect).

then came LOTRO...and its like WoW all over again only this time so more beatifull, the music, the characters...i love it, just as i loved WoW..

So everyone should just go play there WoW till there tired of it, and then come to LOTRO...you will not be disapointed.

It's true. Now, it's also true that many people that play WoW are young children with nothing better to do with their time than annoy others. However, you could probably say that for most games, especially ones where there is no punishment for anything in the game. You can just do whatever, and it's a haven for brats.

However, there are significant problems with both games, and there are a great many more issues that deal specifically with taste. So naturally people are going to argue about it. But don't worry about it too much. Just ignore trolls and be about your business. Making angry posts of your own, like this one, will help nothing, and just clog the website's servers. Just let it go.

It is just enough to keep people in game for some time. Yes, the above factors just balance out the other stuff that would scare you away. With this it is a solid game.They had to copy the look and feel of some older game, and it worked well, which is good for the mood. A game that should model an imagined setting, or something you seen in movies, etc. faces a harder challenge, so I wouldn't compare WoW to them.

THe question is: Where are the strong points for LOTRO, are they realy strong? Where are the weak points? Will they stop people from buying it? Will they scare people away?

Some friend of miney bought lotro, and another friend came and asked if we should try it. And he said why PvMP looks promising, in 15 minutes we found out we will probably stay with the game we play now, since some questions raised about PvMP and our past experiences with Turbine were a good reason to be very very careful with the game.

I came here to look for answers. What I see? Even when I look for the community most of the supporters of the game are rude, so if you like other stuff better you can't expect much info, help from them, but only personal attacks, attacking many people blindly. And now, I can put community on the list of negative things with this game.

Also since fanboys don't want to have balanced discussions, balanced and informed oppinions, and no discussion to support it, there are no good and balanced oppinions that would give a few good reason to try the game. Lack of intelligent discussion and lack of balanced oppinions with good reasons are a problem. Two wow players posting something stupid? who cares. But if no good stuff on first few pages by lotro people? That is a problem.

And about little kids in wow: I heard and seen that PVP servers are realy realy bad for this :) But I don't play on them, and on some RP servers you see more mature and intelligent people.

If you really want in depth intel on the game then you are on the wrong forum.I allways look here for "some" input on a game , then look on this forum and browse through the topics.If the game initialy got my attention i don't let the forumposts here change my mind and i go to the official forums.That's what i did with LOTRO and any other game i played.Also you are now doing the same thing , generalizing hte community based on posts made here.Would be nice if people stopped generalizing on these forums every time.

Presence of a few (or a bunch) of bad people won't make a community bad.
Lack of good key members can make a community bad easily.
Lack of visible good members and presence of very visible bad ones is a strong reason to have bad feelings about the community.

Again informed opinion you get from official site.The european lotro site is not down like i understand from your post.I am on there now to check ingame stuff myself and to find a dutch kinship on the server i am.If on that site you would find most people being childish/rude or something in that order and don't get the info you are looking for then yes i would agree that it reflects the community in a big way.

Most general mmorpg sites have a lot of fanboys/girls and has a lot of players that play all kinds of games.Both are not to be seen as a reflective of that games community in my opinion.For example if you'd take me as an example of lotro communtiy then you'd also see me as one for eve online/SWG/AC2/COH/COV/planetside/shadowbane/WOW/DAOC and all sorts of things because i played those games for at least 2 months stretching to years .
