Summary: The monthly fee will be $8.95, and the game will have an item mall. At launch, there will be a variety of editions, each with their own unique character. "Having all of these characters will be essential for PvP combat." Sounds like they're really milking this one. Anyone else not so excited about this game anymore? |

well Sword of the new world has a fee as well. if player dont want to stuck in lvl 20 gap and no trading forever..........then they have to subcribe to further their gameplay. if user want to remain for free then lvl 20 gap is the most you can go and overall the game is not free. |

Nothing wrong with the pricing scheme. Its almost half of what other MMO's charge, only exception is you have to pay for customization options, big deal.

Um...
"...we also had the chance to see special characters that can be found in the game world and be accessed either via quests or microtransaction purchase. These special characters will all have some abilities shared with other character types but will also have special abilities. One, for instance has the ability to construct devices like cannons that will likely be a big help in some of the late game PvP while another uses a fish for a weapon. The most powerful of the bunch comes in the form of Marionette, which is the only character that can't be purchased." I don't know how you guys read that, but the way I interpreted it is that some characters will be unlocked from quests, but all characters will be available for purchase at the item shop except for Marionette, because apparently, she's just too powerful. The monthly fee is simply unjustifiable to me because of that. Even without the item shop, I would be relunctant to be a paying subscriber; as much as I like the game, it's still very repetitive, albeit, just a bit less than your typical Korean MMO. |

Originally posted by WinterfreshAnd I read it as if you want to get every character by paying only $8.95 per month with no item shop purchase, no problem, they'll be available by questing. However, if you find yourself with more money than free time to quest, you may buy them to be competitive in PvP. The Marionette being the most powerful character will only be available to those who quest. (edge to those with free time) As a person who falls into the more money than free time category, this pricing model is very appealing to me. Heck, I'd pay them 29.99 a month if all my characters came outfitted with automatic I-win buttons. (hey, they can be on a 1 hour timer, I just want to win once in a while) As to grinding, what the heck, my first MMORPG was Lineage 1 and DAOC back in the opening days had its fair share of grinding. (L2 perfected it though), so its time to go back and hammer it out again. (besides, I still will have my lifetime LotRO membership for when I get the questing bug) "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

While I agree in that players with less time should be able to stay competitive, the article doesn't state that all of the game's characters will be available via questing. I wouldn't find it hard-to-believe if there were exclusive characters available only in the item shop.
Haha... may I ask what you mean by Lineage II perfecting its grind? I thought that its grind was terribly steep, though the game itself is very good. |

Customization is a very big part of this genre of game and not being able to access it because my wallet has more important priorities is a big turn off. My personal opinion would be to bring the sub up to the current market trend, lose the item mall and free up customization. This way they might just regain a lot of the potential customers they have alienated with their recent pricing scheme. |

Originally posted by WinterfreshWell, I took this at face value: "Today we also had the chance to see special characters that can be found in the game world and be accessed either via quests or microtransaction purchase. As to L2 perfecting the grind, I mean it is the pinnacle of the the grinding games...if you can climb that hill you are truely a master of pain...... there might be a few games with a worse grind.... but none are as representative as L2 "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

Originally posted by MarkkramAs I said, the game is only 9$ instead of 15$. If it REALLY bothers you that much, then just pay 6$ worth of costumization options. heck, it probably won't even cost 6$ to get the characters the way you want it. |

Hey, GL, we all know know that you are GE's fanboy. But stop talkin' some nonsence. You want to say, that K2 isn't being ruled by lowly mercantile thoughts?.. No, that can't really be. Why? Because that subscribing type is just outrageous! 10$ or 15$ - there is not much diffirence. I don't think that I'm ultra-rich guy, but heck, I CAN afford to pay 15$\month for a couple of mmos. Not to mention, that internet alone costs me 30$\month and I can download only 2 gigs for those 30$, all that is above those 2 gigs - I'm paying extra for every single MB (yes, inet providers are diffirent in my country). And I still can afford this, but IF the game worth it. Yes, I like GE alot, but i don't like, when people take me for idiot. Why the heck should I pay monthly fee not quite significantly lower than other games and STILL don't get all the game has? What do I pay every month for? It's obvious that this subcribing type made for one clear reason - tu pump out more money. They like the idea of Cash Shops? Fine! But let me play free than, tough I want have all the features, that is quite normal. Or make another option - let me pay 15$ or 20$\ month and give me ALL the stuff from the CS. Why not, huh?.. I tell you why - they just want money. Customize for 6$ and play? Don't you yourself think it's not quite truth?.. They wouldn't create this idiotic pricing system if they don't hope to earn more than 15$. Much more.
So I'll gladly pay 15$ not to feel myself "limited" in the game. But what they did - it's just dirty and cheap trick. NO respect at all to K2. If these guys think, that they can ask for more money, than, for example, Blizzard asks for WoW, and do such shitty job in the process - that's their right. But I'll not allow those leechers to make idiot out of me and I hope GE will soon fail as a franchise in the west. That will be a good lesson...

Originally posted by Rin_Pride 1. You're an idiot. Please learn english and come back with a post that makes sense. 2. People are freaking out about nothing. We have NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING TO BE IN THE ITEM SHOP. For all we know they may just have additional costumes that you CAN get in game. The shop then would only be to allow people to customize characters that they want to keep but don't want to spend time making or finding the items in game. 3. Its nice to know that a rich guy like you can afford to pay for 92386549742698756247 mmos a month. The fact still remains that for a AAA title like GE $9 is hella cheap. I for one am going to give K2 some rope and hope they don' t hang themselves with it. Honestly,
