http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=2jdma2p pass the bank in Khal (notice the HUGH amount of LAG!! http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=34o6dlg pass Crafting forum (again terrible LAG!! http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=4bggwsn coming from the other side Craft sphere http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=302mebr zoning, yup it's still here The site i used for the the vids uses some sort of encryption so qualtiy is not very good. But it might give a idea about the amount of lag i'm getting and really it isn't that bad, this might afcourse be different with each person. Used trial version of fraps to record the vids (played on:EN7900GTTOP,AMD 64X2 4400+,near4GB ram,X-Fi Elite pro.) http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=3yeaf0l really enjoy the 1st person render in Vanguard especialy when fighting lions or other creatures, just look at how the lion bite's and fights with you i find that enjoyeble.

I think using the Unreal Engine for a MMO was a bad idea... I just don't think it was designed for that style of gameplay... I would of rather had the graphics scaled back some and had smoother frame rates... Hopefully Sigil can tweak the Unreal Engine some more to smooth out the FPS... At least to a point that someone with a mid range gaming rig can play on balance with no lag or stuttering... I think if they can improve performance they would be able to increase there player base, as poor performance is turning a lot of people off to this game... Right now If I go into a area where there is more then 15 people playing it starts to stutter bad....

I am one of the fortunate that rarely experience lag as well. My system was upgraded though for Age of Conan purposes about 2 days ago. Before that upgrade though I still had no lag even on highest settings.

With those specs I had gotten 24 FPS in the wilderness and 10 FPS in towns with my custom settings similiar to High Quality (one above balanced) I didn't molest my config files but I know I could have gotten more FPS if I did. I just have a severe pet peeve of having to rearrange a config file to get more speed. That should be a developers job and not mine. I know enough about technology to build my own computers and to code minor small games so I do know how to go into a config file and alter it. I just chose not to. Some people have posted with much smaller specs than my rig but have achieved better results than I. I do believe them. However, I think the problem lies in the majority of "cluttered code" Sigil squeezed into its program. I would be the first to admit whether or not my rig sucks but I can literally run any new release game, regardless of graphic intensity, to the maximum setting. EVERYTHING. That's why I blew about 1500 bucks alone just in RAM and Video cards. Odd that I can play any new release or previous release game at maximum settings (believe me...with one terrabyte of space, I do have a "few" current games) but with Vanguard if I wish to receive 50+ FPS I need to lower my settings to balance. Tells me something is wrong with the game and not with my rig. But thumbs up for those who got lucky with awesome FPS rates. I envy you all. EDIT: I didnt get this rig to play Vanguard. I update my system every two years. Gawd....that reminds me....I need to throw some away because now my wife and 2 kids all have their own lol...must....stop...this...madness..... |

I don't think I understand the point of that; were you trying to say your lag (slowdowns) were indeed NOT that bad?
Looked pretty crappy and lagtastic to me, but points for recording in one of the worst places in the game; Khal's crafter forum. |

Originally posted by sepher I don't understand either. The first video was very choppy. The only video that didn't look bad (the zoning one) he was all alone and there were no complex textures anywhere near. |

It seems the OP is trying to be sarcastic, but even with 4 Gigs of RAM this game is still choppy I pity the fool who wants to play on an average machine.

I only have 2 gigs of ram and it runs fine.

Gotta say im very surprised with the fact that you lag worse than me, on my old machine, If I lagged as much as that I'd of turned down my settings long ago.
I would suggest turning your settings down a bit I think your aiming too high with vanguard being the way it is you'll find much better performance on lower settings. |

Hehe.. I'v got Core 2 Due E6600, 2gb of ram and X1800 Radeon (512mb) and my lowest FPS in Big City was 25. Otherways i have 35-45 fps all around the game world. Right... |

Originally posted by Vortigon If i lagged like that everywhere i would surely turn down some of the graphics, but sorry this lag at rushhour in a city isn't really a lag problem for me atleast its not, outside is practicly lagfree, zoning excluded. |

Never argue with idiots. They just bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. |

I play on an old machine ( amd 3500, 3gb ram , nvid 6600) and encounter very little in the way of lag and stutter. Maybe I have the Magic Machine or something..I dunno, but game runs pretty smooth most times with graphics set to high performance and many of the various adjustment sliders cranked way up. I turn the grass off though...which is fine. Grass is no good anyways unless you can play it at full density. It sucks to watch grass draw in as you run. I'd rather just play with it off till I get a better rig. Most of the eye candy doesn't phase me much though...it's the game itself that matters most.

O played it on both my wifes Athlon 3000+ and my E6600 @3.4 MHz both of which have 7900GT's and both have 2 gig of ram. I played all through beta 3 and up to release day in open beta. I could get 10 - 15 FPS in town and 25 - 30 in wild at balanced settings. The stutter was horrible though. Only game I ever ever saw perform worse was Dark and Light.

Originally posted by ThonySo you lag and have performance issues in Vanguard like everyone else despite having a beast of a machine. If that was your point, ok I get it. I'm pretty sure we were already aware that there's no playing this game without frequent slideshow moments though. But thanks for reminding me how crappy it is. |
