Thousands of years ago man worshipped cats. Cats apparantly haven''t forgotten

But they say they'll be giving monthly updates.

I have the press release somewhere around here..

Personally i think that thier giving up on eq2 since the release of Vanguard the servers are mostly empty these days anyway.

I wonder if a game company that releases a sequal will ever make a better game then the original..

They aren't giving up on eq2, they are actually making it better, and doing everyone a favor by doing a 1 year expansion cycle. When they do 1 year cycles, new content tends to have less bugs.

So recently SOE has increased the price of the Station Total Access Pass by 20%, included the rushed launch of Vanguard to that Pass, & now wont add any additional Adventure Packs for EQ2 that was supposed to be one of the benefits of the Station Total Access Pass?  I think only doing (1) expansion per year might be a good thing.  It might be better than there old routine for expansions that was for EQ.  I'm not sure if the marketting Gnomes' tactics of increasing price while cutting the features is such a good move.  It would be interested to learn of EQ2 players' opinions about this if it's true.

SOE needs to cancel SOE and quit trying to milk the public for money.

This was discussed briefly in this interview:

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/gameId/2/setView/features/loadFeature/1063

"No Adventure Packs in the near term, although he affirmed that something related to the Gods will be forthcoming soon in a game update. “Yes, we also have plans for Expansion four in the works.” Development will last a year or longer."

This was almost 2 months before the announcement of the SA price increase, so I don't know if the issues are related or not.  I'm personally glad they're not doing the adventure packs for now since I canceled my SA and the packs were way too expensive to buy individually on a regular basis.

On unrest

The mansion itself is also expanded – three floors worth. No longer maybe just one camp or two, it is a “big, big zone” capable of supporting many groups of players both inside, under and outside of the mansion

Well, We know this isn't true. It's an instance. Only 1 group per instance. And yup, It has exactly 3 floors much like the original.

Live events - Well, We had the 5 minute erosol day. I didn't see much of a live event there.

I'll believe the adventure pack when i see it thanks, According to the memo i recieved they're not planning on having any more adventure packs.

Not arguing any of those points... I just posted the link because that's where the comment about adventure packs was discussed.  What is it about the adventure packs you'll believe when you see it?  I don't think the article said anything much different than you did... no adventure packs in the near future.   That leaves it pretty open ended for either direction.

Elim Darvar of Hodstock
Permafrost-Everquest 2
Valeria Victrix

Permafrost is still crowded.  As for expansions, they should probably go 10 mos to a year, but not more than that.  There are always updates to existing content, and small add ons that go in all the time.

More people are playing EQ2 than Vanguard and I believe thats always been the case. Here:

"Personally i think that thier giving up on eq2 since the release of Vanguard Lord of the Rings, the servers are mostly empty these days anyway.

SOE has little to no creativity on their teams anymore... It's one failure after the other... Poor decision makers in the top office and witlessly following bad decisions.
