I played the trial, wasn't impressed. I'll give it another shot if they redo the wholllle thing over.

I like it. I can log in, have a fun adventure and not have to spend half my time on the back of some bloody gryphon. The fast action is very nice as well. I've gotten so spoiled by this game that the thought of using an auto-attack system makes me kinda sleepy. I like how the quests are repeatable as well, my mates and I always do over adventures in PnP that we really like. Not a game for everyone, but at least you can assume the people that are in it are having a blast and know what they are doing. The mass market folks can have their cafeteria, I'll take mine in a nice quiet cozy restraunt. |

i didn't care for it either due to the initial "must group" thing (i guess they 've made most of the content more solo-friendly now) and the almost 100% instanced nature of it. still... players always cry "someone should make a mmog that's different!!!" so someone did and now players don't like that either so you can't win. As long as a stable and profitable base of players find it fun who cares. |

I like DDO. I know many don't like the instancing and group heavy quests, but if you've got a good guild it's a great game. I really do like DDo and all those changes are very interesting.

I stand by what I said in another thread about this game ... it's dead or dying. There just aren't enough people playing anymore to keep it fun. Having to wait until 'peak times' or 'weekends' to find anyone to do anything with makes this game unworthy of $15 a month. At least, as far as servers go, Ghallanda is dead. I'm amazed if I see even 5 people while I'm wandering around bored out of my mind because there's nothing my level 11 Rogue/Fighter can do (99% of the time he's solo, 1% of the time he's standing next to people that don't need a fighter/rogue in their group) and actually earn some experience. It's too bad. The game had a really awesome combat system. (Even though it was way too PvE based to keep a real crowd interested...) I know! Let's all blame the damned robots! Even though I posted here, don't think I actually want to have a conversation with you. |

Hmm, I played on launch but gave up after a month for a couple of reasons - Only get XP on quest completion. If you're in a dungeon for an hour and RL pops up, you've wasted that hour. - Complete inability to solo - Having to do the same quests over and over gain due to a lack of content Have any of these been addressed as I would like to take a look at it again? LOTR hasn't lived up to expectations so I need something else to keep me interested until AoC or TCOS hit CoH/CoV - D-Zol/Kinslayer |

A little child cries ,,, That its being bored with the food its getting from its mum,, so mum not being creative at all to make something different she decides not to give him food at all.. Thats what happened with DDO .... Crafting open spaces end all other features are what makes an DDO complete . Without these features is NOT DIFFERENT its only unfinished ,just half game ... now its up to them how are they going to create and apply those features in order to make it different and in its way original well thanks god they are coming to their senses |

I subbed for about two months and had some initial fun, but it quickly wore me down. I'm a life-long D&Der so I was predisposed to enjoying the game, obviously, but I think in the end what caused me to cancel was it just seemed too ... one tracked I guess. All you did was log in, find a group, do an adventure and log out. No crafting, no housing, no etc. It's good to see they say they're going to add some of that in, so maybe I'll check it out in the Fall or Winter.
On that note, notice how everything they spoke about was, for the most part, pointing towards a fall implementation? Does that spell an expansion to anyone else, rather than just updates? Seems like that to me, they're going to take most of the things that people want and put it into a box on the shelf, rather than expand it inside the existing game. Not complaining, just something I that came to me. Not a bad game, just not for me right now. If I had a half-a-dozen RL friends playing, then I think I'd think differently, but since I don't oh well, it's just WoW and the LoTR beta for me right now. Maybe some Guild Wars. |

Originally posted by KinslayerX That about sums it up, still. You can solo some now, just not past about level 4 or 5 before the encounters start getting so hard for non-fighters that you lose more experience than you gain. Other than that, it's still pretty much the same ol' thing- log in, try to find a group, log out. (Notice the lack of any sort of 'do a quest' reference there.) Even though I posted here, don't think I actually want to have a conversation with you. |

Generally speaking I do not have a problem finding groups to play with on one of my characters. i.e. The actively looking groups may not need my L 10 rogue but they can use my L6 Fighter. |

I so wanted to play DDO, being a D&D fan from long, long ago (1979, specifically). Played the beta just prior to launch, and that was enough for me to walk away and never look back. To put it bluntly, DDO is not "Dungeons & Dragons". I understand that the devs felt strongly that this should be a group-oriented game. Unfortunately, as anyone who has played D&D for a long time can attest to, you can't always get the whole gaming group together. Solo content was necessary to fill this void, as I know I've spent many an evening running my brother through single-player adventures because the rest of the group wasn't available. Furthermore, what D&D fan would consider playing 100% of their time in a city? D&D has always been about exploring the world you were in, not running through the same city sewers over and over again! Whoever at Turbine thought this was a good idea has no clue, but I'm sure they will get one soon enough, due to the declining playerbase. Now I know Turbine has made DDO more solo-friendly over the last few months, but that is really too little, too late. I'm done with DDO. Currently playing: |

what ever the opinion of this game it still has the best combat system of a fantasy mmorpg...why? auto target is optional. No other fantasy mmorpg does this as far as i am aware and so it will remain the best of its ilk. Sadly LOTRo is using the point and click combat used by all the others ... a shame. Still it keeps me playing Stormreach...and way better than table top which i have been playing since 82....
