So I'm looking for a new mmorpg to indulge myself in. Preferably free to play. Nothing fancy, no 'awesome PvP', no silly stuff like a 'decent guild system' or ''stunning graphics'. I just want a game with graphics that don't annoy me, a battle system that can keep me focused, and plenty of customization to make a memorable character. Bonus points if the classes are fun to toy around with. Can be Korean, cutesy anime, whatever. And yes, I've been through WoW. |

So, just what are you looking for in the aforementioned combat system? Most MMOs use an autoattack + hotbar style like the one you saw in WOW.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. |

Originally posted by Aelfinn If it's going to be auto-attack, then at least I want to press some funny buttons. Do something interesting once in a while during a battle. Maybe some snazzy sfx in between. I'm not picky, as long as it can entertain me. Instead of aggravating me with the same battle sequence over and over again. |

Originally posted by RonaruudoHmm, AoC is moving comepletely away from the autoattack system, but is P2P and has all the bells and whistles you said you could do without, not to mention the 8 months till its released... Guild Wars and Silkroad Online both manage to make combat fairly interesting. Of course, Silkroad spoils it through the endless grindfest. Gunz Online is all about twitch conflict. Unfortunately the thing is all but run by people using bots and/or macros. No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. |

DDO's combat is great, very action orientated, no need to target someone to hit them, you can just swipe your axe, sword or whatever and hit whoever is in front of it, casters are fantastic too, no standing there waiting 2 or 3 seconds to cast a spell, virtually all spells are instant cast, you never really get the chance to stand still in battle! I would even go as far as to say that in my opinion, DDO has the best combat of any MMO! As for character customisation, well, it has that too, you can virtually start with a blank canvas, want a wizard specialising in necromancy, repeating crossbow, shuriken and well whatever really, you can do it in DDO, you can multiclass up to three classes, so for instance by the time you reach level 14 (the cap shortly) you could be 4 levels in wizard, 4 in fighter and 6 in ranger or however many levels of the chosen character you require. Then you have all the feats to choose from and then the skills, oh and then the enhancements (which have just been revamped and are releasing in a couple of weeks) and there will also be Dragonmarks in Module 4 I think which is April. You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway. |

Funniest verse in the whole song. Take out Canibus and put DDO, and it's samething. DDO is so bad now that no promotes except We3ster. |

Well, DDO costs money, and it may be worth it, but i'm sticking with Guild Wars >.> It has no monthly fee. Thank God.

To be honest, I've been in the DDO beta. It was the first mmo that made me nauseous. Not to mention how difficult it was to find a group. Not to mention that walking in the 'main area' was a puke-inducing pain in the butt. No, I got D&D books here. If I get that desperate I'll just try to find a group and play the tabletop version again. Sorry if you get paid to convince people towards DDO, but I'm not going back there. Especially now that it costs money to play. |

Originally posted by Ronaruudomaybe you should try Diablo II with the expansion set (lord of destruction). It's not really an mmo, still, it is (in my opinion) the best hack and slash game out there. Both D2 and the expansion are like 10 euro's each so it's definitely worth a try. |

o if ur lookin for classes to play around with turf battles gets another + mages acn cross and be a subclass and u can stat ur char however u want u get 10 staat points per lvl at lvl 100 u get master skills which u can stat however u want overall it gives u more customization than other MMOs with the exception that there is only one choice of armor after lvl 135 assuming u stated for equipmentat lvl 160 ( i recommend waiting till 200 if u want to play for a LONG timeso u can max alll master skills) u get master transformation skills which are abuot the same but ur armor changes when u transform to use them ( TRANS LOOK AWSOME FFS!!) |
