I used the torrent link Turbine gave and it all downloaded but on install, several files reported corruption. The loader opens and connects but instead of examining the install and replacing / fixing issue it just states "installation may be corrupted" and then sets a 1 minute retry timer which I don't see the use of as it just loops. So, my 2 cents are it won't even install from links Turbine gives out and their launcher isn't smart enough to fix the issues. I've already spent too much time on this so I guess that's it for LOTR. Frankly, with Guild Wars out, a game better have housing, crafting, a huge game world and be damn good / solid to expect money each month. I expected better from a beta 2. No way this thing ships anytime soon with an install that doesn't work.

Hundreds of us have been playing for months and hundreds more have signed up for this stress test and our playing now. We could all install it fine. Your torrent client is probably bad.

Just in the EU version there is more than 15,000 testers and 99% have no problem installing the game. Next week there is 10,000 more freebie EU betaes handed out and i hope those will have minor problems too I'm redownloading the game once more and is currently downloading from a site that splits the game into 7 smaller files and i have a download of 300+ Kbs(i reformatted my PC so had to download it again) Maybe the US version also have a site that cuts up the files into 7 smaller files like the EU version have? That way you have a smaller chance to get corrupted files i guess. ___________________________________________

Don't blame Turbine for your problem... thousands of other people can log in just fine. Sounds like you really didn't want to play it anyway. Enjoy GW!

I understand your frustration but the reality is this is only affecting some folks and is not something that is going to prevent the game from launching successfully. Especially not when the software on disks will install just fine. That said, I've been in beta since around August (thanks again MMORPG.com) and I downloaded the client without using torrent quickly and flawlessly. Even downloaded it a second time after a wipe with no problem. shrug Hope you get it worked out though, seriously. "Many nights, my friend... Id you are running an other downloaders , that can currupt a files. I used the "Download Manager" the suggested program from Turbine, worked fine both time I used it... Try another download without running an other torrents, see if it works for yah . One of the greatest Saturday morning toons ^^ who me ?
