Originally posted by AssAssin_666Imo Vanguard has some weird proportions, LOTRO does far better in this department than Vanguard. There are some really ugly looking proportions. So far I have only found 3 races that look ok, out of all the races. Examples of terrible looking races in Vanguard: Kurashasa: The heads are just plain wrong. Looks quite good from the side, but from the front it is terrible. Vulmane: Impossible to get the chest to look ok. This also applies to most races, sadly Only ones I have found good so far are: Orc Goblin Lesser Giant The Elf's look quite good to, but they look terrible in caster gear, and their body proportions look weird no matter what you do with the sliders. A example of how wrong it can go in Vanguard: Originally posted by GhostwiseThose two screenshots where beyond terrible |

![]() This picture is realing a great one to see the emotionless combat. Also start seeing a huge pattern in VSoH of everything is just bumpmaped in wide open terrian with little foliage , think that is why people considered it bland. Does VSoH have any jungles or Rain Forests ? I know that some classes start out in well wooded area but after you journey out , that seemed to sharply decrease.... Here is Everquest 2 screenshot, looks like better shaders and color palette in my opinion ![]() who me ? |

Vanguard is far from 'next generation'... in fact its like a generation backwards. The animations are terrible and the graphics are blah (yeah I ran them on max settings at 30fps and I still thought they looked crap). The bottom line is that LOTRO does more, with less. Once again goes to show that pure polygon crunching doesnt make the graphics great. Hell even guild wars looks more impressive than VGSOH. Since they are pals with Sony again perhaps Sigil should go consult EQ2 programmers on how to have awesome graphics. The latest version of LOTR beta is looking very promising, might be what I need to tide me over until Conan. |

Originally posted by swede2Wasn't trying to cause a flame , but just comparing "SHADERS" . I was in Vanguard Beta played a Dwarf, Dark elf and human. I found the Dwarf area pretty neat with the big mine , and used your dimplocy to talk about some dwarfs about a statue they uncovered. My Dark Elf got to level 20. Found the Start areas well done but as I ventured out , it was vary sparse . who me ? |

Okay, so what do you guys want? VG compared to LotRO, or VG calendar compared to LotRO calendar. As far as I know, games are about motion and animation, and LotRO beats VG hands down, because 1. lotro has something worthy of being called animation 2. Lotro has a specific art direction 3. the enviroments and characters look harmonically intertwined, it has an atmosphere, while VG lacks one.
Anyone can take pretty screenshots, pros can even tweak ugly screenshots to look amazing, but that all doesn't matter, motion matters. When I played VG all my characters felt like ugly rubber dolls. VG aimed at the upper class of MMO players, the elite. Well, I consider myself of the elite, and I got handed an unpolished mediocre game, makes me laugh really. And to the guy who said VG had more depth, false, it had a longer learning curve, deep down the combat is as primal as WoW's is. --- Vanguard is to realistic graphics as Michael Jackson is to organic human... |

Originally posted by TucheSeriously did you read my post? Or did you just not understand it? And yes I play the game. I'm talking about the PROPORTIONS of many of the players characters that are awful. And yes, Vengeful , I'm aware of that the players control the proportions somewhat. But many of the races already have weird proportions + a player that thinks a 2 m broad chest is cool = bad result. That was what I was pointing out in my post. |
