Gaming is life...

GameSpy has posted an incredible preview feature on Guild Wars.  It has tons of new information as well as a great line-up of new screen shots.  Here is a snippet:

When the creators of Blizzard's Battle.net service decided to found ArenaNet and make games on their own, they wanted to create an online experience unique to the industry. This year gamers will finally get to see the fruits of their labors with Guild Wars, an upcoming massively multiplayer game with original new gameplay and a business model that won't charge gamers monthly fees. These days it's easy to dismiss an online fantasy game as something that's been 'done before,' but Guild Wars has some tricks up its sleeve to make it stand out -- backed with some incredible graphics, to boot!

Guild Wars fans won't want to miss this one.  You can catch it at this link.

love the glove

"Before entering a mission, you choose the eight skills you want to bring to battle with you. No matter how long you've played the game, you can only bring eight skills into any particular conflict, meaning that a relatively new player is just as capable of winning a battle as a long-time veteran. The secret to winning isn't about who has the best lewt, it's about who is on the team that picks complimentary skills, develops the best strategy, and fights as the better team. Long-time players will have earned more skills to choose from at the outset, but strategy and tactics are what will count on the battlefield.

Gameplay in Guild Wars is also completely streamlined, and feels much more "video gamey" than most massively multiplayer games. Gone are huge tracts of empty lands or long slow grinds to build up experience. Forget about corpse runs or any other time-wasters. Every player has access to a large map of the game world, with all of the mission locations highlighted; simply click on a place to instantly go there. They keep saying the things I like to hear, time will tell if they can deliver.

Achievers realise that killers as a concept are necessary in order to make achievement meaningful and worthwhile (there being no way to "lose" the game if any fool can "win" just by plodding slowly unchallenged). -bartle

Just sit back and relax, because this is really gonna hurt...alot

I agree Clever.  I haven't found any other MMORPG out there that is using such a novel approach. I am eagerly awaiting the E3 event on the 12th of May. I think it will be refreshing to experience an entirely different style of game play. I'm really cheering for this one.
