if life gives you lemons make beef stew

I haven't played this game in a while and was thinking of changing back after finding out how disapointing Scions of Fate was, but i heard about this new "skill system".  Is it for the better or the worse and is it worth playing?

Hey, I think the new skill system is just awesome.

I used to play before version 7 came out. I had quit for some time and in that time the game was updated and tweaked a bit with ver. 7. When I came back, the biggest delight was to see the new Skill system.

The old system, we all know. Spam your skills to raise your skill level. With the new system, you no longer have to spam your skills to level them up. Now you get an X number of skill points every time you level up. And you apply them to a skill.  Let's say you want a certain skill, well, just like the old system, you still have to level a particular skill up far enough that it unlocks a higher skill. The new system is still the same in this respect. Except now you don't have to spam skills with every free second you can squeeze out. If a new skill opens up, you just apply the points you need to attain that skill and BAM!, you now have a new skill. No more spamming your shortcut keys. No more AFK skill bots.

The good thing is that when they redesigned the skill system, if you have been inactive for a long time, you will have a ton of skill points credited to you.

But hey, best of all, NO more skill spamming.!!!

Godfatherk, I am sorry that you don't like it. I really like the new skill system.

I am trying to think why anyone would like sitting at their compuer, with Flyff open hitting F <whatever> again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and for hours on end just trying to level their skills up.

Now if it were like FFXI where you leveled your magic skills as you used them, that would be a welcome change. Of course, there are your battle skills that you level up while grinding away at mobs, sure. But skills like Protect, you just sit there spamming them to death.

Personally, I am glad that you don't have to spend all that extra time leveling up skills. I am glad that I can just get back to grinding instead of spamming skills all day long.

But if you liked that aspect of leveling your skills up, I commend you. You're probably a more patient player than myself. So, kudos!

thats not the point at a higher lvl the grind is much higher and u have to kill higher lvl mobs, so u would lvl ur skills so it would be esier the fight higher lvl mobs, but with this system ur skils r lvled in proportion of ur lvl

If you want to play again I would reccomend a job that wasn't so skill-intensive, like one of the merc classes.  Pretty much acros and mages got screwed over big time by the v7 update.  Before v7 I was doing 2400+ dmg per spell cast.  After v7 I was doing 1700.  The fact of the matter is with the new skill system, if you're going to play a mage, you're not going to be as strong as the people who were high levels before v7 came out.

In time it won't really matter though.  If they change it back then no problem.  If they don't then the older players will eventually leave the game and you'll be on par with all of the other post-v7 magic users.

It's still a fun game if you can hang in there.  And I'd suggest playing on the newest server cluster also.  If you go for mage then you might want to look into specializing in only 2 or 3 of the elements.  *shrugs*
