WoW clone? lol, I have the original Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay source books from 1983 and the artwork from there is almost identical to that being produced for WAR. If anything WoW is a Warhammer clone and Blizzard didn't think that Games Workshop would enter the MMO feild after the last attempt at Warhammer online crashed and burned just beofre the closed beta started.

I`m getting really irriated that you WoW fan boys call basicly every single fantasy mmo a *clone*. WoW is just on of around thouands of mmos out there. Just because it`s at it`s prime doesn`t meen it will last forever and anyways on my server when i played it only spazzy little kids played it. W.A.R has depth and good lore WoW is just a shallow. Uberknot just to let you know, lots of people who play the table top which exceeds WoW will probley play W.A.R. . And thats my two cents. |

I've been following this for a while, and I know the differences in the two games. I also understand the differences in the lore. So don't worry, I'm not joining the "It's a WoW clone" crowd. However, I do find it interesting that many of you equate WoW with childishness, and expect a more mature crowd in WAR. I've been playing MMOs for a long time, and PvPers have the highest ratio of immaturity over any other demographic. Explorers, raiders, and all the other types. They all have their share of idiots and childish jerks. Yet it is PvP that seems to bring out the most asshats.
I love PvP, and I enjoy Realm v. Realm. But I'm not going to lie to myself about how the community is going to be. Seriously. |

Whoa deja vu, I could have sworn I just saw this post in the LOTRO section um...or was that the Vanguard section. Why respond seriously to this? It's ridiculous. As for immaturity levels, I really don't see a difference between MMOs or any other "male dominated" hobby. Oops, that was probably a sexist comment. Guess I'm being immature. Oh well.

The problem with this WoW vs WAR topic, it will never end it seems. People dont realise they are two different worlds of their own game. It doesnt matter who did this first and who did that last. We can see that WoW itself being on the MMO out there first is recognised by many people and even to those that just started their first ever MMO. WoW appeals to them and people are enjoying and seeing this to be the great game out there. So we all know WoW itself is a big game and has a big market for people to enjoy.
So as time goes by , finally Warhammer being popular on its old type of games such as the classic Warhammer RTS , Dark Omen and even the Table Top game from Games workshop its huge and its big. People do recognise all of that and now finally they make it to an MMO which we all could see that there are similiarities to WoW because of some layouts such as UI and even characters seeing Orcs and Dwarfs . But it can't be helped how an orc is to look like an orc and they are called orcs , what else is Warhammer IP going to call them and how they look when they are just putting in what Games Workshop designed them to be. There is no other way , they can't change the colour of orcs or looks all because World of Warcraft made an orc and they may seem a bit similiar. This applies to dwarfs as well and so we see people that are shallow will just say , WoW clone because they dont bother to think and realise that WAR is coming into an MMO community to be recognised in " IT's " own right. People should just see that the difference that WAR will make is that they will create an RVR experience for raids and people will be involved in either side of whomever fights whom to which the World and field of play will be moved by how people are involved to those that create success against others . People work together to fight against one another purely and their rewards are given for what they done. WoW we can see that people get their Best Tier set no. # from mainly the PvE aspects of raids of facing NPC bosses for their best rewards. In the end we just hope people would not just judge a game by the looks and say this is the same when each game has their goals which are set different. WAR is for a RvR experience and WoW is for PvE experience mainly to set their targets different. We will also notice that the classes in WAR will be different from how WoW plays so they are not clones but 2 seperate games altogether. I hope this clarifies enough for people to understand and somehow people would just end this rant this clone or that. Just enjoy the wait or if not interested then dont bother but for those that do anticipate the game like myself. I cant wait and hope to see what the end result would be like once WAR finally comes out. |

You asked why you should play WAR and not WoW. I´ll tell you why. =) Eventhou Warhammer is pretty geeky, even geekier than WoW (probably because of the plastic doll thing they have been doing for years), Blizzard is totally fucking up their own game. Warhammer is perhaps for the ones who have chosen to not play WoW anymore because they are unhappy about the changes of the game and think Blizzard have become lazyasses who can do nothing good at all but still get payed. But like I said, it´s still too geeky to suit my taste, so I´ll wait for the next huge release that will draw over two million players in Europe. =)

I was looking at Age of Conan also, but their early minimum requirements kick my computer's ass  . So, hopefully WAR is gonna be kick ass and a bit more brutal than WoW was.

If you are such a idiot thinks that warhammer is a clone of WoW then you need to read up.
 Warhammer online where thoght of two years before WoW was even an idea. And its also so that every race (exept for the froghuman thingies) is taken from warhammer, because warhammer is the begining of it all so don't say it's a copy because if you do you are just a worthles fat WoW nerd who thinks hes smart but realy isn't It began with warhammer and it will end with warhammer |

Edit: I suppose the fact that they're both based on warhammer tabletop minitaures can be pointed to, but beyond the basics - a Dwarf being a Dwarf, a Human being a Human - the difference in artistic style is staggering. Seems that someone would have to be pretty determined to claim they were more similar to to WoW avatars than they are to DAOK or EQ.

Whoever says that this is "World of WarhammerCraft" or "this so gey, tehy ripof WoW >_<" needs to kill themselves right now, because back in 1976, Goblins looked like the WoW goblins because WoW is unoriginal.
