Well constructive criticism I can take, and I will honestly admit that those particular details were unknown to me. My only purpose in starting this thread was to state that the game as of right now is essentially paying a monthly subscription to beta test a game that obviously wasn't ready for release. Also that the game as of right now is borked beyond belief, something that people who are still teetering on whether or not to purchase the game right now to at least wait 6 months while hopefully all the game-breaking problems are ironed out. As they should take priority over completely screwing up character models and class skills. I appreciate the constructive criticism, as I meant for this originally to be an informative post, not a whining or bitchfest. Whereas everyone else just appears to see it as flame bait. |

But again, the game has to launch at some point and we know when that is. I'm pretty proud of how much funding, marketing, etc. we've received to-date. We have over 100 people workiing on this game. That said, we're not Blizzard either (yet). So the polish, time, and budet they had isn't what we've had, although we probably come in second. The game is also different -- Vanguard is more about freedom, attracting people who want a more challenging long term home, providing a game for old school EQ players and also WoW players looking for either/both something new and/or something more free and immersive. That means Vanguard is going to offer features and an evironment that is different and better IMHO than WoW, but also be a very different game than WoW, where we are focussed on different things and have different priorities."

I would like to thank the OP for this thread as it has saved me from buying this broken game. To all you folks that come on here and bash folks for complaining about the fucked up game they bought, I implore you to stay out of the forums and in game. If you see nothing wrong with paying for a game that is full of bugs and runs like a model T with three tires than your a dumb ass..plain and simple.

you obviously dont know how to use your skills properly or have yet to puchase foods to assist you in combat . There is a lengthy list of items to help including friendly buffs from other players . You dont need a group to trecieve the buffs either. I find it hard to beleive that you want another game of WOW the game was never suppose ot be easy . They didnt put the easy button in this game from what I remember. Go back to Turf battles or something where you can gain 50 levels in 30min. Your a sad excuse for a warrior and its time for me to move on to other flames of idots that dont want to learn the game. C-YA

Well I purchased the game at release well aware of the bugs and problems that come with every game at release. It's not the game functionality issues that bother me, those I can accept as it is a new game that Sigil even admitted pre-release wasn't as ready as they would have liked it to be. What really irks me though is to have the servers go down during peaktime for an "emergency maintenance" where the majority of the playerbase thinks that the game functionality issues are being resolved. Only to log back on and not be able to kill the mobs I was having no problems with not two hours earlier. Right now, to me, it's Sigil's priorities that are in question, and whether or not this is setting a precedent as to whether any of the REAL problems with the game will be addressed first and foremost in the upcoming months. |

Originally posted by giodee21At what point did I say I wanted another WOW, have you even been in game after the patch? Everyone else I've spoken to says they've noticed their mitigation doing less to help them than just before the patch. My whole point was that SAME mobs that I had no problem with a few hours earlier were now all of a sudden kicking the crap out of me. The update didn't list anything about mitigation/defense decrease or even scaling the difficulty of mobs. I obviously knew how to play my character a few hours ago before the patch when I wasn't having any trouble at all, and apparently somehow in the last couple hours I've completely forgotten how to play my character effectively...oh dear. I appreciate your attempt at making an intelligent post, but it appears you have failed miserably. Aren't you missing a breast-feeding from your mother or something? |

Been playing on trial buddy key and enjoying it myself. I have decided to hold off on purchase though becuase of what one poster said above. Sigils priorities right now should be on game optimization so the game runs better and is mor stable. Worry about class changes when that has been taken care of, period. So I personally am going to put this buy on the back burner to see if things turn around in the coming months.

Anyone who was paying attention knew that Vanguard was going to be solo unfriendly and raid centric, even though Brad and company lied and said Vanguard would satisfy all types of gamers. The game mechanics are specifically designed to limit achievement to forced grouping, so wether you are a hardcore soloer or casual gamer does not matter, you will always be a second class citizen in Vanguard unless you group and raid. The removal of a centralized forum is right out of SOE's playbook. It's what they did with the original EQ1 forums when they shut them down because it allowed the playerbase to unify and voice complaints that SOE did not want to acknowledge and Gordon Wrinn couldn't manage the boards effectively. SOE is clearly involved in the decision making process of Vanguard, they were instrumental in pushing for an early release even though the game is not polished and still in beta. |

As for the early release well you can only blame SOE in that they wanted to see their investment come back before sinking any more cash into VG black hole. Then again if it weren't for Sigil signing on with SOE the game known as VG would be vaporware. Especially after Sigil bought out their contract from Microsoft and effectively forced themselves to run out of cash prematurely. This is a Sigil game all the way. This is the vision of Brad and Sigil. SOE was just dumb ( or smart if you look at it from another angle ) to offer Brad and Sigil a deal to publish the game under the SOE banner since no one else wanted this mess of a game. Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2. Originally posted by BarenMordega Screwing Warriors is Brad's forte, go play WoW, and I say that as a good thing! Brad hates the Warrior class and spends all his free time deciding how to screw the class next, the most played class in EQ was utter crappolla and ditto or worse in Vanguard. Move games and let Vanguard die as a message to him. If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. Wow you clearly don't listen or comprehend well what you've read. The timing of the announcement to not have an official forum is not an indicator for or against Samuraisword's theory. I happen to believe Samuraisword's theory is plausible.

Originally posted by damond5031 Right on! I was telling everyone how bad this game was and no one listened, this is a gas to read. It gets sold lock, stock, and barrel to SOE next while Brad moves on to his "sequel" and you get stuck holding the bag! Next if you don't raid ungodly amounts of hours a week your character becomes unplayable in the new expansions till you gear every slot with your present expansions best raid gear, A.K.A. tanks in EQ. Then they cancel the whole thing after they have no players! Here is laughing at you, there are 800 players in WoW for every ONE playing Vanguard! If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1) |

He provides no evidence other then irrational assumptions and unproven claims. Again the idea behind not having official forums is a Sigil move. End of Story. This game needs to hurry up and die(all the way) already.

I'm not sure exactly how SOE relates to the "nerfing" itself. If they control all the character attributes and monitor the gameplay so closely what exactly does Sigil do?

Huh ? What nerf ?
Was with two others in gataros cave and hunted 3dot priests including adds. We even killed a named on the beach. All three of us lvl14. I didnt felt nerfed but exited, because it needs a bit of skill to survive gataros or adds with a team of three. We could even manage the 4 gataros at the entrance... This game is a mountain. Rough and dangerous. Do you have what it takes to climb it ? Or do you prefer to whine about bugs, nerfs and low performance ? Then go to the other mountain and take the cable car. |
