I have played many MMOs and even many MMORPGs so rest assured that i know what i'm talking about. WoW? Been there, done that. I can honestly say that i detest the game now, even though i thought it was the bee's knees this time last year. I'm currently waiting for a download to finish, so i thought i'd warn the youngsters out there who are even considering buying this game. My main concern is that it is far too time consuming. I hear that there are players out there who play "a few hours a day" but i know that 9 times out of 10 this isn't true, or by "a few" they actually mean anything up to 10 hours. Why do people play so much? Because it's so damn addictive, that's why. I think to myself "Oh, i'll just finish a quest while i have 20 minutes to spare, and then i'll go down to the gym with some mates" and along the way to completing this quest i'll find 3 more quests which seem fairly straight forward, and i decide to complete those. Before you know it, you've been slaying naga all day and its dark by the time you've finished what you set out to do. And then you spend the rest of the night finishing more quests, which causes severe back ache, headache, and prevents you from getting anything done at all. What makes things worse is that once you're bored, as soon as you've had a small rest you'll be gagging for more, and this is what makes it the drug that it is. You'll continue to waste day after day on this game, and not notice anything wrong at all. And all for the sake of another talent point to assign to a talent which might improve your chance of a critical hit by 1%, if you're lucky. WOOT? Never again for me. My conclusion? Unless you can afford to dedicate your entire life to this game (i certainly can't) do not buy it. If you can, then maybe, just maybe this is the perfect game for you. Enjoy. With concern. Luke.

I fully agree, this game is wa too addictive and actually it aint that good. If you ask yourself, what have i been doing the last months, it's just getting the best armor that you can, but you can't get the best anyway cuz there are freaks who have quited their jobs to play. Luckely for me,I do start to find it a bit boring. So i might give up my account one of the next months. Kind Regards |

Originally posted by Orca Are you insane??! Vanguard is the game that harks back to the old era of MMORPG's, including Everquest and Ultima Online (MAJOR TIMESINKS). It would literally be one of the worst game to reccommend to someone who was trying to ween themselves off MMORPGS. WoW is comparatively lightweight. And to the OP - cancel the gym membership and invest in a workbench and 100lb of free weights! (beats queing at the gym anyday) |

Heh, i've got my own equipment, but i'm never motivated at home. And i pay top buck for my gym, which means there's no queuing for me! Cannons all the way! But back to my point. I'm not trying to ween away from MMORPGs, just the heavy ones (WoW, Vanguard etc) the smaller, less popular ones are always the best! Runescape had me hooked for a loooong time! =] Luke. |

You should check out EVE Online, if you haven't already done so. You train skills in real time, and don't need to be in front of the keyboard 24/7. It gets very exciting once you get all your basic training skills levelled (which takes about 2 - 3 weeks) and join a good corp.
Plenty of people with normal schedules play the game successfully. It's just a little slow to start with. |

I think EVE Online would be a good game for you to try, it's pretty straight forward and easy to play once you get into the groove of things.
Only set back is once you're training high end skills it can take a couple weeks to finish, the good thing is, you don't have to be logged in to actually learn the skill! It's pretty easy to sit down 2-3 hours a day and play, and honestly I recommend the game to anyone who's sick of the current MMO market...
But I'll also honestly say I'm not playing it atm and dunno what's new or what changes have been made... currently playing WoW..... and I have to say I use to play wow 3-4 times a week for a few hours in a raiding guild, it is possible to do. www.scarybadguys.com |

But casual is the player not the game, the guy sounds like he gets addicted to MMOs and he'll probably get addicted to any MMO he plays unless it's completely lackluster TBH.
I still think the guy should try EVE. www.scarybadguys.com |

I did try Tibia, it doesn't even compare to runescape! runescape is a game that you need to get into before you can like it, so don't diss it! i'm still in love with the community! and i still go back and talk to old friends on it, which is nice after like a year! :) Luke. |
