Allow me to restate my opinion on this video without seeming like a "fanboi" or "hater" just for you Sturm. Ready? Here you go: I absolutely love the graphics in the game, they look absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything so realistic. Though it seems that with such high graphics that there is evident lag in the videos that I've seen to date. Also in the video they mention that the character's faces will be able to blink and appear to be talking. I was really hoping that it would be displayed in this video, but it wasn't. I personally don't like the animations. They feel stiff to me, but that's my opinion. Others might find them quite life-like. Way to go Funcom. You've made a beautiful game. I just hope that with your delayed release you can improve upon what you've already laid out for us to see. Because I (seeing how I'm the only person that thinks so) really think that there is room for improvement. --------------------------------------------- |

checkthis500, I just wanted to say I'm not against you and believe you do have a point. It's an absolutely fair statement. I think where the 'misunderstanding' of you being a basher simply stems from the fact that people whine a lot and sometimes, especially on these forums, people seem to be bashing things just so others will interact with them... it's sad really. Either way, all I'm saying is you're right there are visible slow downs but that's to be expected, its honestly not even something I would bring up unless this was the launch video - but with 8 months left to go in development, the game is smokin' hot so I'm not worried about a little slow down in a video they decided to share with the world. I think the best thing is for people to remain very unbiased and open - we're all here for the same reason after all... we just want to play a wicked MMO and share an interest in the future of online gaming.  Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one. BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward. Sorry TSW. |

I think they have been showing some good stuff, I have no problem with a game company showing just enough to whet your appetite. This game looks great, and if it looks this fantastic now just imagine it by release time. I say let them take their time, make it the best they can and then release it. Other companies should follow their lead.

How with all the in-game video and screenies and other crap can you sit there and say that the only info they have released is words?? Especially with as much info as has been given its certainly a lot of words! FC has been as or more forthcoming of info on AoC as any devs at this stage you are either holding them to an impossible standard or just hating... And as far as you "never acting like you are doing anything bot stating your opinion", thats bull too cause from the thread about gamepads you said this:
Which is just so much crap, in fact Althelan has said some preffer one, some preffer the other, but you have as much control, and more options for interface, using a keyboard! And the real kicker is the OP of that thread posted an article about SHADOWRUN so NONE of the information in there is pertinent to AoC... That is exactly what I'm talking about when i say disinformation!

Patience my friends, patience. All good things in time. I know that sucks but that's the reality of it, so better just see everything for what it is and not set yourself up for heartache or disappointment. Let facts speak for themselves and just remember, it's still far away. I've had my ups and downs when it comes to MMO's... in fact, no MMO has made me 'happy' by fulfilling my needs completely. I don't HATE them or the industry, people are working hard and the industry is evolving rapidly. Just imagine where MMO's in ten years will be. Hopefully, with some good creative visionaries, it will enter a serious golden age. Til then, I've learned to 'scout around' as much as possible, try my best in beta's to help developers and just remember, it's just games and no one will force me to pay for anything I don't want to. This game shows promise but I know there's so much they're holding back. I'm interested. It's on my radar. But does it cause me frustration? Hah... not one bit. I have hopes, but I'm not betting the farm on ANY mmorpg, ever. Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one. I"m interested in seeing what combat looks like. All this video showed was a guy chopping down a bunch of people with one hit. Does anyone know if they've released anything yet showing an actual fight? |

I read a concern of someone who posted earlier.
In one of the movie interviews, the developer *does* talk about Raiding. Also about that players can focus on a more "political" part, but he didnt specify so we'll see... Also, that there are graphical glitches is understandable.. They didnt postpone it for nothing. I myself think that a big part of it is also about optimizing the DX10 part, as they have only implemented that rather recent.
I myself won't trust a MMORPG that isn't delayed at least once after it's in closed beta. That's one of the things you will have to give WoW and Blizzard credit for, they put some quality standards out there when they released WoW.
Edit: for the person who said he wanted to create "himself" as his character looks, as far as Ive understood it from reading/watching interviews, there is a really large diversity on what you can create. An old skinny geezer or a fat guy with a beer belly are two possible options if I remember correctly. ^^ |

I've seen enough mmo's ruined by buggy released which caused a very rough start.
