Originally posted by DanyBoy2005this is a rumor that i have also heard. About SWG2 around the time of Kotor, or at least enough in the past where events could not affect the movies. The only thing might be that you could meet jango fetts granddad or something (which is still awsome). There are 3 things that will make SWG2 good 1) NO SOE AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OF FORM 2) eather time place in the far past or close future in the movie timeline 3) do not call it SWG2, the name itself will make some gamers from SWG not want to play, call it SW Online, or SW Universe. The name will make it seam like a new take on it. That is my two cents, i could go on about the gameplay elements that i want in the game, but that is for a diiferent fourm lo. |

SWG2(or whatever) will only survive and satisfy its constomers by being a 'niche' game which the Devs/Moneymen have to be willing to accept from the beginning. Not every MMO gamer or Star Wars fan wants to be running around killing things with a lightsaber, when 25% of most servers were Jedi and Smuggler's still couldn't smuggle(my pet peeve) that game was dead. No updates on older quests and minimal effort by the devs/SOE/LucasArts at all not counting the dreaded NGE etc.
Star Wars should be a sandbox and can very well follow the original storyline(to LucasArts' liking) with world events and eventually the elimination of the Jedi. |

theres no way soe will develop another starwars game. I would quit MMO's all together if either of these comapnies developed a game together again. and i would lobby congress or whoever decides this crap to get a "hazard to your health" warning on the box and stating clearly on the box that there is no such thing as a persistent world and stating exactly where your sub fee is going? How many people thought 15 buck a month was for the persistant world and future development? |

I will NEVER play ANY game, including any new SW mmo, as long as $OE is involved. $OE can burn in hell for all I care. LA is close to being in that same boat as far as I am concerned. LA, even tho they AGREED to - if not ENCOURAGED the NGE and CU, would need to stick with a company (like Bioware) that has some kind of scifi / SW backgrouund. Make no mistake about it, there will be another SW mmo, someday. May not be our life time but it will happen. I agree with those that mentioned that the name would have to change. Just too much bagage with what happened with $OE. |

I'll say that SOE wouldn't want to be involved with SWG2. Lucasarts is apparently pretty hard to work with according to some veiled comments from various gaming execs including smed.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity. |

Originally posted by Tagurit But SOE's management think it is their current and former customer's fault that the NGE failed (didn't give the changes a chance and the negativity still rampant on the official forums). SOE is in full on WoW envy mode and will keep trying to copy WoW until they either have a major hit or something else comes along to dethrone WoW. If the latter happens, they will start copying the new top game and so on. They still believe the NGE was a good concept, but that we customers (both former and current) were ungrateful and caused it to fail by being so negative about it. They don't understand that the current core of the game is extremely unfun and the original core game was never the problem with the game to begin with, it was the lack of content. Adding content on top of the current core system is not going to make the game fun. |

If I was able to pick up a Star Wars MMORPG I would make darn sure to use the correct engine that adheres to the Star Wars Universe: I would not design a WoW copy. There is no need to do that. And I would request to work with Mr. Lucas on the game. This way the correct vision is transcribed to the 3d world which I strongly feel can be done with the correct team being led by a true Star Wars talent. Go 501st!!!!

Originally posted by Obee i agree wholeheartedly however id like to add that the profs were a alittle unbanlanced pre and post CU. TKs were way overpowered around the end of the pre CU era and jedi were mercilessly nerfed post cu. if they had balanced out the melee and ranged a little and gave jedi more content preCU there wouldnt have been a CU or NGE. and adding content to the current system is like throwing more crap one a giant pile of s*** |

Why not scratch SWG and create a new mmorpg game based in a new time period?

Originally posted by Riho06 I agree Riho06, and I think you nailed it. I never do this, but I can't help but issue a QFE here. What they ought to have done in the begining is accept 300k sub base, which is not at all shabby (WoW excepted). Further, they should have built a sandbox placing the initial setting at just before episode I. They would have had 6 years of content by releasing yearly expansions based on each of the movies. Beyond year six they could have thrown open the doors and let the players take the sandbox in whatever direction they pleased. Not that tough to figure out - it really isn't rocket science.

I think a comeback would be interesting, with a new game engine and same concepts of SWG. I want my sandbox SW back :( |
