I like when people quote a lot of other quotes inside quotes and stuff... and then it like turns blue and stuff.

I was on during holidays on the free trial.
Lag - is bad. Nothing is going on, but its bad. The clusters were probably consolidated to an absolute minimum number of machines. When I say bad lag, I mean bad as during the Bastion raids. And no, there werent 500+ people in the same zone. Gameplay - meh, its NGE. I cant say better or worse, but its NGE. Bugs - same old, same old. No more no less. Population - same old, same old. Same old names, same old players, same old guilds, same old. Population is only in hotspots (Eisley, restuss). The rest is an odd player here and there. POIs and scenic locations are empty. I ran around lots of servers. The only server worth mentioning still is of course Bria. The rest is painfully abandoned. From what Ive seen, SWG is running on some spare machines they still have lying around. It can probably run on them for a while. Population is at rock bottom, at least it wont get lower. If they can keep it running like this, it can run forever. Its currently in same state as DaOC or AO. Not DnL dead, but in its outgoing phase. You have the same die-hard fans playing, but thats it. This wont change, just like it doesnt change for other games. The only question about longevity here is whether these nominal costs are low enough to break even. If they are, the game can run for as long as needed. UO however is in healthy state for a game of its age. PS. This post is missing apostrophes, whenever I hit the apostrophe key, firefox opens search bar - go figure. |

Addy, Rouge 5, Tunso, Jneri, Gris, Neif, Chrysalide, Tereb, Vapor. Here is the link to there next chat they will be having to discuss the upcoming chapter 5 trader revamp http://swg.stratics.com/content/news/GeneralNews.php#newsitem1168527506,75953, I was wrong in my quote from before so I apologize. I was talking about gm's not devs that I had seen running around in the game. All i can say is what I see when I log on everyday. That happens to be in my eyes a growth in what was an anemic population this time a year ago. They fix alot of bugs on a weekly basis thats an improvement in my eyes. Anyway it is pointless to argue. Whats done is done and there is no changing that. I do feel this post is premature though. Mark my words the game will not be shut down any time soon. I know you guys are hoping for that but it's just not going to happen

I am a day one vet who quit right after the nge and resubs every once in a while with a glimmer of hope that swg has become fun again. With the exception of 2 months ago, everytime I resub, there has been less and less players ingame. I go from city to city (including player cities) looking for old friends or even a sign of activity only to be disappointed just as much as I was the last time I resub'd . I walk through dead cities that at one time were thriving with players. I did see a little bit more activity this last time but it wasnt much better than before. I mean...if you see an average of 10 players everytime you log on and the next time you see 13 thats quite a difference when youre talking in small numbers.
Lets face it. As much as I hate to say it the OP is right. The game is dying. It cant go on in its current state that much longer. The content sucks, pvp sucks, crafting sucks. The whole game smells of rotting flesh. It is NOTHING like it was when it was first released. |

It isn't completely bad. You guys probably play on the less populated servers. Servers like Bria still have a lot of people, but quite a bit less than before NGE. I predict the game will keep going for a while. Don't get me wrong, I HATE THE NGE, but as the developers keep improving the game, it will see an increase in players. The professions it looks like, will get a little bit better. They are working on "improvements." Sorry if anyone posted something like this before, I skipped through most of this. |

yea, i would have to say that SWG has a TON less players than they did their first year, and before pre-suck, but after the suckage came people who loved the release version quit, i know i did along with all my friends. So to say that servers are still populated by alot is like saying o theres alot of milk in my 10oz bottle, when the other day the bottle was 30oz. Kinda a weird analogy, but what i'm saying is that if you compare the amount of people now to before its dwindled down to nothiness. Just thought i'd throw this out there, since alot of people i noticed say: "lots of people play", but in comparison to what? checkers?
edit: Petepp this isn't in response to you, or anyone here, cause well i didn't read any of it, just thought this would be a good place to post this http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/Tabatron/Fading-SWGEMU.gif |

Originally posted by dirtyd77Jneri is a LA producer, not a DEV. So is Neif. Gris is/was an AP. Tereb I thought only compiled publishes, not an actual code writer, but I'll give you that anyways. Anyone have a good count of how many DEVs we did have during the peak? I mean actual programmers, not producers, Smedlies, assistants, towel boy or janitors, lol. As for SWG's demise, I will only believe when I see it. IMHO it's pretty dead and I'm waiting to see what the trader revamp does. AND A DARN HOUSING PURGE! |

Before it gets shut down a "Focus Group" has to decide the date.
If it is announced it is going down...my guess the announcement will be before the end of March....and six months after that it will close. |

Originally posted by peteppppI was (am) on a populated server, bloodfin. Bloodfin today is considered one of the top 5 in server population and it is earily empty. And as far as improvements, we have heard that "same ole song and dance" ever since they released the nge. Like I said in my earlier post. Every time I resub I look for improvements in the game with disappointing results. The funny thing is, if SOE had any balls they would come out and say they made a big mistake and at least take the game back to the CU and work on it from there. The NGE was by far the biggest mistake ever made in mmorpg history but most of you already know that. |

Heh, like it was meant to shutdown this time last year? I'm sure we'll probably be here again this time next year having the same argument all over again :D

Well The reason that SWG still have its 50 people playing it, It's because the new mmos of 06 "Suxed!!" really bad!!, Now with burnning crusade, out there, vanguard, age of conan, WAR, Aion, And maybe if Darkfall is released, The population of swg will drop even more, Only way to get people to play This POS, is to bring pre-cu or Cu back, NGE just Sux! It's too bad! Only the really die hard fans, would play this crap.
