I've been playing WoW lately, and I'm currently lvl 58. I have a wife and 3 month old daughter, I also attend night classes, online courses and have a fulltime job. My problem with WoW is that at this point in the game, nearly EVERYTHING is groups. and everything in the groups requires me to be on for at least an hour and 1/2. it's nearly impossible considering once my daughter begins to cry, it's the end of my WoW session.
<p> I'm just looking for something that doesn't require me to play for so long in one sitting. I've played Guild Wars, it's the same deal. Tried going back to AC and it just isn't the same game anymore. Any suggestions? |

A game thatI found was pretty solo friendly was Everquest 2. Same with City of Heroes/Villians. Give them a try, they both have trials.

Have you tried a single player RPG like Oblivion?
It takes a bit of getting used to coming off WoW, but with quicksaves and pausing... might fit your hectic lifestyle a bit better :) Unfortunatly, I've never been able to find a demo of Oblivion, I still play for 1-2 hours now and then, but it's not my favorite game ever. But read the reviews, it's one of the highest ranking games lately, and don't just take my opinion on it :) Retired from WoW |

Edit: Sorry I didn't see you've played Guild Wars, I didn't think it was that time-intensive compared to WoW but I guess I'm wrong.(not played it much), I guess there is DDO. |

City of Heroes/Villiains is pretty good for a casual player. In 30 mins of play you can do a mission or two, depending on your archtype (class). Plus has probably the best character customization around. EQ2 has improved in the last year, but the sheer size of it may bother someone with limited time. Occasionally you will have to take some time to get to Point A from Point B. There are griffons for flight as in WoW, but they only help you get around a single zone. This travel time is not nearly as bad as in EQ1 though. Both games have free trials so I'd say give that a try. Free is always good, I can afford free. |

Been playing the 10 day trial of Dungeons and Dragons for a few days now. Though It doesn't feel like a "real" MMO, it does appeal to casual players. Haven't been that high up yet, so don't know about the high lvl stuff. Try the trail and find out.

I have twin 11 week old boys and a 3y old daughter, so I empathize with your lack of time. I agree that EQ2 is a good choice, as there is always something you can do solo (I often jump on for 30m and to the broker, or travel around). I also concur that CoX is a great casaul MMO, give them both a try...

Originally posted by napalmswebI just kinda figured WoW is replica of EQ so i never really bothered with it. I may try out CoV, seems pretty cool. Thanks for the advice, it's nice to know someone else is able to be a casual gamer and have responsibilites =) |

If you are going to give COH or COV a try.. I would get the Good vs. Evil eddition, has both games for the price of one. I have tried WOW but I didn't care much for it to honest with you. So my openion is COH/COV and Guildwars Nightfall. I like the henchmen option, I really don't need to team much with that game. |

I agree with previous posters..
The COH/COV combo is the best MMO for casual gammers with limited playtime hands down.. While I enjoyed EQII more than WOW I found it less solo friendly except at high levels. I also agree that games like Oblivion & NWN2 might be good choices for you. Dutchess Zarraa Voltayre |

EvE could be for you.....actually i think it might be ideal if you like the style of game eve is that is. First of all while it is very corp [guild] oriented its demands on your time is up to you if you have to go just say in the corp chat " Need to be AFK see you later" or you could just log off and come bacl later. Also leveling wise is done in real time youy select a skill you want and it tells you how long before its learnt. No grinding no running around for mobs. its done in real time even if you are offline and asleep. There is a free trial you can try it will at least give you an idea if this game is for you. For any further questions ask in the EvE forums on this site there are a ffew around usually who can help you. |
