"... One crowded hour of glorious life, |
That's a lot of stuff "very soon after release"...
Just push back release and get it done properly? Or is the rush more to do with your distributors? Am so sick of seeing "it'll be in after release, promise" from Devs. Usually just ends up equalling an unfinished, unpolished game, ala EQ2. Two years later and EQ2 is finally starting to be the game it should have been at release. So, same thing is going to happen with this? |

I have to agree, this after release trend is probably one of the worst Aspects of online games. Just because it is possible to update a game doesn't mean these updates should be used as a excuse to not fix vital bugs or mechanics that aren't working correctly.

Me too. Hey, your information said you would be the only MMO ever to have the thingamajiggy9000! "Erm, yeah after release we'll get those in." In the years coming some publishers are going to get their pants sued right off. I for one can't wait. |

I'm not generally given to posting on here, but I've been looking forward to Vanguard for a long while now. However, having seen the list of things which are being left out just to get a release out, which just says to me , get subscribers to fund development, then I htink I may leave subscribing for 6 months. Still sounds like a cracking game, but I am tired of releases that are clearly going to change dramatically over things that should have been done in the first place.

You're going to see more game companies successfully suing beta testers for talking about games before the NDA lifts than gamers winning lawsuits over "promised features". In the first case beta testers electronically sign a binding legal agreement which states you can't talk about the game until it lifts. Yet how often to you see "beta leaks". Yeah, you don't see it much now, but if gamers start trying to sue companies for something as silly as promised features, well, that door is open now and I wouldn't be surprised to see companies patrolling all game forums even heavier. |

| The Themepark Method of making MMOs is structured entertainment, akin to a puzzle. I prefer a legos style where I can build what I want and something new everyday. |

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person tired of paying to beta test games. The last two strategy games I bought had no decent AI and they were meant to be played against the computer AI. No classes should be intoduced post launch. There arn't that many classes to begin with. I'll continue to keep an eye on the game, and once production is finished I might play. I've been looking forward to this one. and find this early launch to be a major disappointment. |

Originally posted by Arremus Well, this is a problem that goes around the entire industry. Vanguard is the second in line to be the most expensive development MMO ever and it must start generating some sells as soon as possible so that the team can continue to work on this vision. They can't continue to work on the game forever and if you honestly feel like it isn't ready, then don't play it right now. Wait until you feel comfortable with the game and then come and immerse yourself into the world. Nobody is bending any sceptics out there to play on Day 1. But, in all honesty, what game is 100% ready at launch? None. In my opinion, the game is in a fine enough state for me to play, enjoy and immerse myself into the world. I've play the beta for a few months and I am happy with the speed of progress and were the game is at. It won't be long after launch or in the coming weeks that they fix some of the bad issues dealing with performance. We'll see... Regards, |
