This in my opinion is the greatest innovation in the last 3 years of MMO's if not possibly the history of MMO's. What is the Fellowship? The fellowship consists of 6 players who agree to make a fellowship. They split exp evenly whether online of offline. Death penalties are not shared. What do you think makes this such a great idea? Simple. If you have a group of friends that can only all be on during the weekends but you have 2 or 3 friends that can also be on 2 weekdays and 1 that plays everyday then you all get to stay the same level and enjoy your weekends together. Doesn't that screw the 1 or 2 guys that play 7 days a week? If they feel that way they shouldn't be in the fellowship. Some friend...

Originally posted by godpuppet Why? Splitting the same set of exp 6 ways will take one character 6 times as long to make max level. They could just as easily level 6 characters in a row in the same amount of time. The difference is, they are able to sell the accounts faster if they level them one at a time. Its not like you are generating additional exp by using a fellowship. I agree with OP. A great idea. |

Worst idea ever... When i was in college i had a computer science professor who said "novice programers tend to add more code when they have a problem, instead of deleting some they already have". Meaning that people often add new things to fix problems when the solution involves deleting the thing that was causing the problem to begin with. BTW this is exactly how politicians operate. Yes there's a problem. I work a full-time job, but my friend is unemployed. I get in maybe 10 hours on the weekends, but he plays 40+ hours a week. Thus he levels faster and soon we cannot play together. The problem is you can no longer play with your friend because of the character level/game area differences. I do not agree, however, that the solution is adding some easily exploitable way for you to keep up. Call me crazy, but here's an alternate idea: The reason people can't play together is a result of the advancment system in games. Instead of the highest level guy being 1000 times stronger than the newb, bring the difference between the strongest and the weakest much closer together. Having the lvl 99 that does 1000x the damage means that the lvl 99 monsters must have 1000x the hitpoints. Since the lower-level guy doesn't have the magnitudes of damage/HPs needed to venture into the "high level" areas, they can no longer party together. So quit adding new code to fix longstanding problems in MMOs, and start deleting some of those bad ideas instead. ~PD www.TheChippedDagger.com My 90-day 2D Java MMORPG project They that can give up essential liberty for temporary safetey deserve neither. -- Ben Franklin |

Originally posted by godpuppet I'm sure there will be limitations to it. And even if you can fellow with a 50, the exp you gain most likely will be equal to your level, not his. I would imagine if they put about 60 seconds of thought into it, this would not be allowed. |

There is a level restriction to the fellowship just as there is in a group so the only way a powerleveling company is going to enjoy this is if they enjoy trying to pl 5 characters with 1 character within 5 levels of the others. You can't have a level 50 in a fellowship with a level 10. |

There is limitations, you all must be within 5 levels of each other, and so far, it doesnt affect crafting. |

Doesn't innovation imply it hasn't been done before? Granted it's a good idea, in my oppinion anyways, but I've seen it before. Lineage 1 had groups of beholden, where it was family who basically shared experience as they each leveled and whether someone was online or off, they would get a sharring of the experience made. I've also played numerous MUD's with the almost the exact same concept. Oh and plenty of PnP have this feature, the new books and rule set for Requiem use it and it works awesome, great for people who can't make it to every game like myself. Nice feature again but innovative? |

Provided there are limitations like that, its a very good feature indeed. :)
