Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

Originally posted by Zorgo Ah, so true innovation doesn't matter anymore. The MMORPG market has been reduced to a giant fricking salad bar. Slap a little craftable iceberg lettuce on your plate, toss on a few FFA PvP crutons and finish it off with some GIANT BOOBS brand salad dressing, and call it something totally new and inventive. And what do you know? people eat it right up and believe every word of it. No wonder they think we are idiots.
MMORPG makers have been playing that particular game for years, hell that method is a big part of what made WOW such a success. Don't call it innovative untill you can come back with something that has NOT been done two dozen times before. Now, at this time, I do not have a comment to make on the game itself, I have not tried it as of yet, so will leave the final judgements to those who have |

The games that come up with innovation often get squashed in obscurity, unfortunately. I agree with you 100% on this though. Innovation is not what they are about, making money to fund what they already invested seems to just about cover it though. I liked the comment about BOOBS salad dressing, I happen to have a few boxes of that lying around my desk here somewhere <rummages> ahh yes, there it is.....large as life! Well, I have been watching Spellborn for innovation. They have conceptualized things like "no death penalty, but rather a bonus buff for staying alive longer" and such. It may not be hugely innovative, but at least it takes a serious pitfall such as a death penalty and works a new spin on it (serious to the hardcore gamer who likes to try really tough things just to see if they can succeed and serious to casual gamers who don't have time to die). I will be watchful of other titles, but I did win the beta lottery for spellborn, so hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised when the next phase of beta kicks off.

I amy start following spellbourne a little closer now that vantaurd has shown itself to me that it lacks the ability to deliver what they said they where,
I also think with what video is out of Conan , it is going to be a huge success now and look forward to chopping head in real innovative setting . AoC is going to be the biggest title with Warhammer and Spellbourne coming in even or slightly behind it. I see Vangaurd not reaching it's gaol and with every passing minute of them saying next patch m, next patch people will be cancelling their account. Unless Vanguard can pull off a Over seas coo , it is going to be what any game release at the beginning of the year , mediocre . Content > Graphics |

My fingers hurt from video games :( |
I may check it out, hearing about a PvP server now... Depends on the ruleset.
