Suske, have you actually read the patchnotes for Update 3? Theres a lot more content thats been added, not just 'epic grinds'. Those that are thinking of giving this game a try, go for it and don't let these hardened gamer posts put you off. Most of the playerbase is around level 80, so when you first start up, you may notice a lack of players about. EScpecially if you are coming over from something like WOW. Don't expect crowds. IMO this will all change soon enough as the bugs gradually get squashed (which they are ) and as soon as players realise that the PVP part of the game is actually a LOT of fun. We are currently testing out the Update 3 on the Public Test Server and I can honestly say that the gameplay has improved tenfold simply by changing a few things around. Some BH skills have been adjusted which previously meant they had an 'I WIN' button. Deflection and resistances are now in play whereas before you only needed high Theory to successfully do damage to targets. Tokens are now awarded for PVP kills and the much hated 'afk token farming' has been brought to a halt by introducing a 2 minute auto INC timer (this means you can no longer be dead in an outpost overnight). Anyway, those that are still saying this game has died or is dying just can't be arsed to check it out. Only way to know for sure is to check it out for yourself and don't go with the popularity thing. WHAT IS AUTO ASSAULT? AUTO ASSAULT 14 DAY TRIAL .. Not to mention, this game is made by NetDevil, not NCSoft. NCSoft is just the publisher. The only other MMO NetDevil has anything to do with is Jumpgate. Auto Assault definitely has issues, but they have nothing to do with NCSoft.

I was glad to hear that Auto Assult was still going strong. It seemd a formidable MMO upon release. Having an enviorment that is more destructible than any other game out there will really add to the game play. I haven't tried the free trial, but I plan on it.

Once I hit the post 60 grind before the big 2.0 update, was when I stopped playing. Right after the server merge, there still were very few people around. Getting a convoy wasn't as easy as people make it sound. The lack or basic basic basic mmorpg amenaties like an Auction House still persisted. I don't see where much has changed.....

Well the server merge happened because the EU servers weren't really populated enough mainly due to the lack of advertising the game got on release. EU players (me included) were asking that all EU servers be merged. Instead what happened was that they merged ALL of the servers including the US ones into one server. Now called NEXUS. Well, this certainly helped the game feel change from unpopulated to populated. Looking back now, I think it was a good move and not one that means anything bad as most people feel. This game is still growing and so is its user base. I'm sure most MMO's start with minimal subs and grow from there also depending on how much advertising budget they have. WHAT IS AUTO ASSAULT? I tried the beta and free trials of Auto Assault. It seems like a great concept, but yeah..it was under populated. It also seemed like most of the game could be done alone. Is this the case? Populatiion is growing but the game itself is at a crucial stage in its development. YOu have to understand that for a long time, this game had next to zero advertising especially on launch and therefore very few players. Its not because the game suxxx but rather that unfortunately most players go for MMO's that are popular. Back to the game itself. Update 4 will be with us soon (I reckon JAnuary) which will bring the Auction House, Mail system and 10 point skill system into play. What is the 10 point skill system? Basically, each class( at level 80-which is max level) has 160 skill points to distribute (when you respec/retrain your character). Atm, each skill has its own unique cost and amount of ranks.Its part opf what makes the skill system complex and allows for some truly unique (non-cookie cutter) builds. Its also the reason why its taken so long to balance the factions and prevent one from becoming the 'uber; faction. However this is going to change into a much more simpler system. Each skill will have 10 ranks and cost 10 points to max. This means you can max 16 skills. BAsically, the whole skill system is being revamped as we speak. For too long the 3 factions were a bit unbalanced and whenever an exploitable skill was fixed 'NERF' was being cried by the exploiters and some of those have left. Good riddance I say as those that have remnained truly are in favour of the game developing for better not just staying in an exploitable loophole. These exploits were the reasons the HUman faction was being played the most (also because they are the EASY MODE of the game). ANyway, to put it simply (and stop rambling) this great game is about to become even better. Its fun, fast AND as complex as you want to make it. If you want to solo...fine If you want to group play...fine You want PVE...fine Yopu want PVP..well fine but mainly at level 80. Its got it all! Population si on the rise again. I've almost tried every payable mmo out there(hate free to play mmo's and there cash shops)so i've seen both high and low population mmo's, could you compare the population of this game to another mmo? so that i could get a picture of it? if possible. Just signed for 14 days trail, going to download the game and give it a try i think.

I realy don't haver any accurate figures or comparisons to give. Last I heard was 11,000 subs but that was more than six months ago..probably more now. On the Auto Assault forums there are around 3300 reg'd users. Of course not everyone signs upto or even visits the forums tho. Good luck in the wastelands and feel free to give us a shout ingame (Kramer or THISIS_HELL on the Biomek faction) if ya need a hand or have any questions. ALso DO ask questions in faction chat as there are always some helpful players about and DO ignore any idiots as usual. In fact there is even an ignore player function and a swear word filter bypass function too . You probably will not be able to get to the endgame as a trial player, but see how it feels and ask questions. I'm sure you'll have fun if you get into its style and pace. Cya iin the wastelands. One thing is for sure, this game is FAR better than most of these haters are willing to admit, did I buy it? No. Might it die? Yes. But I enjoyd every minute of th ebeta that i playd and think it was a masterpeice in design of gameplay, just not environment.

So... you loved the gameplay, but not the environment? Sure I can't say that the settings are breathtakingly amazing. Ultimately they are just the stage upon which we play. There are hardly any invisible walls and you can even end up on the mountain ranges if you get nuked a bit too harshly. I think the most impressive setting is Ground Zero itself with its swirling green crater mess. But I havn't stuck with this game for its scenery. Like you said, the gameplay is good and the action is fast. I can log in for 30 minutes only and have a blast ripping humans and mutants to pieces with a pack of other meks (PVP- level 80) and then log off feeling like I've had some fun. WHAT IS AUTO ASSAULT? Yeah, for some reason the landscapes seemed a bit flat, but really I thought the Snow areas and some of the other areas were beautiful, I wish more companies would try to break the mold like AA I think it is a far under-rated game.
