I highly doubt that the change will be that drastic, especcially since the PC and the console versions are going to be very different, with the console game being released a year or so after the PC. No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. |

Technology is advancing, games are multiplatforming, MMOS are being introduced to console, only person who doesnt seem to be evoloving is you. Change isnt that scary, and what failed before doesnt mean it will fail again, trial and error kid, trial and error. And its usually the console version of a game thats dumbed down, not the pc verson. Quotations Those Who make peaceful resolutions impossible, make violent resolutions inevitable. John F. And the combat system works great on a gamepad, even when playing using the the PC and the PC version, so little will be changed there... The only problem I have is the with people that will be playing on the Xrots, not the game itself

Instead of remaking on the original poster (that would just be too easy) I would like to state how much I am looking forward to this game. The graphics, setting, and game play will make this one of the best MMOs to come out in years. This type of Mature Sword and Sorcery Fantasy is exactly what I've been looking for since my first days of playing MMORPGs. I'm also glad to see that (for the most part) the community is very intelligent and mature. I simply can not wait to get to meet and make friends with some of these great people in the game. ..................................... ...but time flows like a river... ...and history repeats... -Leader of "The Fighting Irish" in DAoC on Hib/Kay- |

I agree that it's stupid to think that because it will be developped on 360 too, this game will suck... Why that ?? The pc development is totally different from the xbox one, and we won't play on same servers...
It's really 2 differents games ... |

Ummmm they said they are considering the option of combining the servers but, still that just increases the people. Which helps for those Epic battles

Gamepads, yuck! I share the fear of the op. Lots of games released for both platforms have been real lousy on the PC. Lets just hope Funcom can make out something good. |

In my opinion it is good that the developer considered to bring this game on 360, because
a xbox is cheaper than a whole new computer and you can play other games with a nice graphic, too. Another advantage is the Game Pad. I think that it will be more user-friendly. |

Releasing this game for the 360 is a hugely positive thing. Not only does it expand it to another less expensive platform that is widely popular, it brings in a whole new audience of people who otherwise may not have even played the game. A new AAA title MMO releasing for PC and console (they mentioned after PC launch) is a huge step for MMO's and their popularity. As for the gamepad, I will argue a keyboard and mouse at this point in time will always be better and more functional to use than a gamepad. Age of Conan is truely one of the only new games for 2007 that is introducing truely innovative material and content, not just reworked items that have been done before.

Since the game was gamepad friendly at the start. I really don't see the big deal.

ya this game seems like it will work great on a console, i mean with the directional attacks and whatnot, that would work great with a joypad, just as long as they dont do anything like FFXI, the controls in that game pissed me off greatly

mind you this game was first concieved and developed for PC so if anything the xbox version will be "dumbed down"
which it of course wont be due to the XENA development suite being utilized God among men ![]() "Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription.. is more cowbell!" - Christopher Walken

Where you are getting this information? I haven't seen any developer interviews, quotes or other official information that is saying anything like this. PC players bad experience from multiplatform games is based to games like Deus Ex 2. Deus Ex 1 was - and still is one of the greatest PC games ever. Deus Ex 2 was total let down. As a consequence of XBOX console-oriented development, the game's levels were significantly smaller than those seen in the original Deus Ex. Console-oriented development also has had consequences for the game's graphics: the game's characters were slightly less detailed and have somewhat lower polygon counts than those seen in, for example, Unreal II. Also these changes are commonly thought to be result from the DeusEx 2's multiplatform development (source wikipedia):
I am not saying that XBox 360 version is necesary making game bad, but some hardcore PC players are going to pessimistic mode automatically when they hear news like this. Common arguments:
I also recommend reading article The Console and PC: Separated at Birth, Cross-Platform User Interface Development and Prey: PC versus XBox 360 "I know I said this was my last post, but you my friend are a idiotic moron." -Shadow4482 |

Personally I dont see much of a problem with the fact that it was announced for 360. From E3 2005, when Gaute (game director) played it with a game pad we all knew it was going to come to a console. Its quite likely that PC players wont be playing with console gamers. This game will not be compromised for console gameplay. The game is primarily being developed for PC, once the PC version is complete THEN they will work on the console version. No compromises, no worries. :) Currently Playing Random shizzle!

Dumbed down, does that mean no more "1111133333111222444411111" flashing across the screen.

Eh, I bought a refurbed dual-core from Dell for less than an xbox 360... PC gaming isn't THAT expensive... Re-subscribing to City of Heroes? Get a bonus FREE 500 Points for the Paragon Market (a $6.25 value) using codes found in this thread here. --------------------- |

True that there will be more people, but haven't you ever played a console before? Remember how much easier it was to kick the crap out of monsters with a controler? Now what I fear is that the console crowd will have an advantage over the PC crowd since they have those handy little controlers while we are using archaic keyboards. Plus you have the stereotypical "younger" generation crowd that plays consoles that we will have to share the game with. I much prefer to keep servers seperate or keep the game only for PC's, but I don not fear the game being dumbed down, just because it is on the console too. I've played some excellent RPG's on consoles that are very complex or fun. Best thing to do is to go with this with an open mind and hope for the best. I dont think that you can play this game with your new pc on high graphics... Ace of Conan will be released in Direct10 and there are no Graphic cards which can handle this ;). So if you want to have a good graphic youd better buy a Xbox360, its cheaper and you have a phantastic graphic! |
