Falling behind graphically? Excuse me, but have you seen the screenshots?! Lip synching, over 6000 polygons per character...
This isn't behind, this is a giant leap forward, as far as MMO gaming goes. A no show? Hop over to MOGArmy.com and take a ganders at that video. They are well on their way. Ignore fallenearth.com, it's obsolete. But this game will definitely get to beta stage, and I'll quickly gamble on it going to release. |

I'm looking forward to FE. It's a shame we have so little info on it. From Wikipedia: "[The apostrophe] assists in marking the possessives of all nouns and many pronouns." |

Yeah, for a no show, that guy sure was excited talking about the game. This game is going to top anything that has been made yet. From the very beginning they stated that they did not want to say what was and was not going to be in the game because they didn't want the normal type of hype that some games do (dnl) and just don't deliver. From those clips this game definately looks like it is going to deliver. No vaporware here! |

They have now had a playable demo at the Austin Games Conference. It has been recieving great reviews from independent sources. Even though they still have no release date, or even a beta date, I think all this negative talk should be rendered redundent.

I don't think it is vaporware. Just because the company isn't giving press releases everyday and putting out a bunch of misleading screenhots and staged videos doesn't mean they aren't hard at work making a cool mmo.

I disagree I think they are equally as bad. I think its a complete cop out to say "when ready" then use as it as an excuse to waste time once you've started to promote something. Players are customers that companies create expectations for. If you set my reasonable expectation then break it for an unreasonable reason thats f**cked up. Some of you will say that devs dont owe anyone anything. They sure as hell do if you want us to buy their products. The customer / dev relationship is just that - a relationship. Screw me over and you'll hear about it. |

When have they promoted anything? I don't see any press releases. All they've done is a couple of interviews about how the game's going.
The video wasn't released by them, remember, it was MOGArmy. I think they deserve to slack off as much as they want. If they do, then they won't get any revenue from the game, so they lose. Seeing as they haven't stated they will even release the game means that we cannot expect anything from them. |

Well its obvious you guys love the game and are kissing a$$ to the devs. Have fun with that - i wont even try to stop you.
But even putting up a website creates expecations in a customer. You can live in your fantasy world - in the real business world things are different. |

I don't have a ton faith in this game ever coming out. It's hard to get too excited about a company that can't even maintain their lackluster website or release an occasional piece of information about the game they are making. After a few really disappointing low budget MMOS, it is pretty hard to get excited about this one. |

ok bye then, thanks for stopping by. Sure you'll all come crawling back when beta is out.
There are people here who have been waiting and watching this game for literally, years.... it really bugs me when people like the ones that surface in this thread wait a couple of weeks and then moan because its not in beta or release yet.... If you want to play unfinished games, there are plenty on the market. *WE* however, want to see this one nurtured and developed properly. Go back a few pages and see the amount of discussion about the game that took place before there was any info, back when newsletters had *gasp* CONCEPT ART (and it would be at least 4 months or more untill you got the next newsletter!)..... back before the website was redesigned with the new character designs and concepts. Back when we were looking at the same screenshots for 6 months and just talking about what we could see in them. And it wasn't anything compared to the screenies that come out now. Most of the old screenshots are said to not represent the game anymore. Infact the majority of the talk was just dreaming and talking about what we'd want in the game...... That is why it is just silly to see people who've probably seen one video or one letter , waited a month and then moan that they haven't been given all the info about the game that will ever possibly be available. If you don't want to wait for it, fine? More room and oxygen in the vault for the rest of us. *Huffs, puffs, then goes off to read the latest fresh sexy newsletter again* |

Gee we want a game thats finished at release. I myself consider that raising the bar for MMO's not being led around by hype to a game thats half finished where you pay for beta 4 a year or more till they release the next half finished expansion. You are right however in the real world things work differently. In the real world the games kick out enough hype to choke a whale and regularly miss release dates by months if not years. I really fail to see how a 4 year production cycle is overly long in the MMO market. The average is 3 years but it has been getting longer and now it is reaching 4 years as the norm. Go to a SOE, Blizz, or DNL forum if you want to whine and cry about broken promises , hype , and missed deadlines. Until you can back up your "strong as a wet kleenex" rant with an actual fact or two to back it up you might want to try those forums. |

Originally posted by Boozek What do you want from them? You want them to come to your house and hold your hand and say everything is ok. We need more time to get a finish product? Let them do their job, you'll here more info soon enough, i'm sure. Somethings are better left unsaid.

Originally posted by suske Good point, except the Icarus devs have done nothing to hype this project. If anything they've done the exact opposite. Their website, for example, is unbelievably out of date. They haven't even added links to the last 3 newsletters. I'll happily say I think their website is appalling - but I also wouldn't be surprised if that was deliberate. After so much inactivity, I think the second they revamp that site we'll all take that as a sign of impending release. That being the case they probably won't touch it until they are just about ready to release. |
