Like has been said before, Eve Online isn't a game that everyone will enjoy.
Sadly, people who don't like it automatically think they know for sure that its a crappy game, and for some reason feel the need to vent about it as much as possible. I don't like Eve Online either yet I think its one of the best MMO's there is. |

i did EVE 14 day trial 2 times , i think its a very good game . what i dont understand is how a forum with 500 000 members , we dont know how many are fake , and EVE as the best ratings for years ... i said it before , i think it gives this site a good reputation to have EVE as the best MMORPG ... but i just cant see how the masses could ever chose EVE for that , and not chose WOW for exemple .. By your theory, World of Warcraft would now be number 1 on the rating list. and I shall give you another list for EVE's review average http://www.gamestats.com/objects/016/016746//articles.html Average rating: 6,6 By your theory, EVE wouldn't even be in the top 10. |

Actually it wasn't number one until last year around november. I played it for a few months last year from around august until around december, and it wasn't number 1 until november that I noticed. It was always around 3 or 4.
Unless that was just a time period when people stopped voting for it. :p Hell I don't know, but I do know it deserves it. It's definitely never going to go away. We'll see if the mods start blocking accounts and stuff if the number goes down. I was personally surprised to see it at number one for so long, because of how many people can't handle it, but I'm not complaining because if not EVE, what game deserves to be number one? I know it's not WoW, or Guildwars, or EQ2, or even DAoC for that matter, simply because all of these games don't hold a candle to how much you're allowed to do in EVE. It's practically a second life if you want it to be. EDIT: WoW came out late 2004 like November or something, which means it's been on the market for around a year and a half. And already people that used to play it are complaining about how boring it is and about all sorts of things. It's dropped from Number 1 back last November to Number 12 just on MMORPG.com's list. Most of it's numbers are from Southeast Asia. And I personally know of at least 50 people that have quit playing WoW in the last 3 months. However anyone I know that was playing EVE last year or the year before is still playing it. --------------------------------------------- |

You do realize the date on those reviews right? That's why I posted the ones on EVE's site since most of them are more recent. All of those reviews are from 2003 when it first came out. If you talk to anyone that's played the game then and now, they can tell you that it's made significant improvements and done nothing but moved up in the world. Hence the steadily increasing numbers for over three years running. I mean just look at their concurrent user records they've set. It went from 12,000 last year as the first one, to 30,000 this year. That's pretty impressive and deserves respect in my opinion. EDIT: The average rating you listed was when EVE was known as EVE Online: SEcond Genesis. Here are the average ratings after it released its free expansion Exodus: eve online: exodus reviews --------------------------------------------- |

But not that it really matter. by your theory, World of Warcraft, who grew from nothing to 7,5 million players in less time then EVE's entire existance, would be number 1 on this site. |

No. My theory was that it was one of the few games that has "steadily" grown more and more players over "3 years" and that this was because it was a great game. I said myself that I was surprised to find it number one for so long, but that it deserves it because of this fact. WoW went up like lightning and people are steadily losing interest in the game. This is quite the opposite of what EVE did. You can't even compare the two. And your reviews are for EVE Online: Second Genesis, not EVE Online: Exodus, which is what it was from November 2004 until recently when it changed to EVE Online: Red Moon Rising (not really recently. Dec. 2005). I linked the reviews for Exodus above, you'll notice that the average rating from reviews on other sites is 9.0. Hardly 6.6. This is another one of my points, the game has gotten steadily more polished and has become a better game over the years, and looks as though it will do so through next year as well with the Revelations expansions coming out. (Note: All of these expansions are free, which to me is saying something about the quality of people running the game) My entire point of all of this, is that they deserve to be number one because of how much CCP looks after the game and it's players. --------------------------------------------- |

You say people are steadily losing intrest in this game, yet, just like EVE, the subscribtion numbers for World of Warcraft never went down once. in fact, they are only growing and growing. the diffrence between WoW's and EVE's population is that EVE is only growing slightly compared to World of Warcraft. your theory is still flawed because of this. |

When I went out to get some sushi with a friend earlier tonight the total users registered was at something like 512K, now its 515K!!! Sure 3k people signed up or its one good bot.......
Edit: FYI, i was only gone for about 2.5 hours... 2.5 hours = 150 minutes = 9000 seconds 3000 users / 9000 seconds = 1 user registered every 20 sec...... |

I wonder how many of these awards where you can vote were won because eve fanbois go rally in eve forums to get every fanboi to vote? I remember that there was quite few threads about MMHell award and MMHell was really surprised how many parcipated but something like 9/10 voted eve. All these eve fanbois did were register, ruin vote of some fansite and leave. |

Does it even matter? Does anyone pay attention to those ratings anyway? Someone could spam vote Dark and Light to the top, but that doesn't mean I'm going to run outta my house and buy it. BTW, everyone knows this site is heavily populated by EVE fanbois. If you ignore em, they'll leave you alone.

Well I usually look at the ratings :P It'd be better if they had the MMORPG ratings though cause then it couldn't be rigged. Or maybe have both on the main page or something. When I was looking for a new game to play this is the site I came to, and that was the first thing I saw. So it does give people ideas.
