Zorbane, in case you haven't been reading the official forums, I thought you'd like this post by Lord Feste from a thread titled Longevity of DnL: I've been arguing on this point for about a year now, and I've been proved correct in so much as DnL is still available to log in to every day. But my foresight has come to an end. The future is cloudy. It'll certainly be available to us until the launch in China. after that, I'm not sure. Perhaps some point after the CN launch, Snailgames will completely buy out the IP for DnL and it'll become another asian MMORPG. Come back Zorbane, all is forgiven. Everyone comes around to the truth eventually.

The most _Pix_ is going to end up with is an 'I was right' T-shirt and 15,000 square miles of empty, virtual real estate that he can't even build on because the castle system 'will be implemented at a future time'.

More than likely, you're right. However, you have to remember that Farlan and company are a bunch of rich dicks from Reunion Island, which means if everything goes right, even if _Pix_ comes out with just his work and a small bit of change, the lawyers fees and bad publicity will bankrupt these guys and make 'em get into something more along the line of their competancy: flipping burgers. Also, if Snailgames doesn't back away from the deal with Farlan, they will be the ones putting catsup on those burgers Also, from what I ubderstand, _Pix_ has already developed the successor to this engine, so it can more than likely be scrapped once he wins and he can then market the newer one without any worries. No matter what, Farlan is going down bigtime. My wuestion is whether Snailgames is ready to join them on the ride down, or if they will cut their ties to Farlan and salvage what is left of their reputation (which I have no idea if that really makes any difference since noone apparently heard of them before this fiasco).

I also feel sorry for the new person running DnL Stratics. Building the site when DnL was still in beta and there was still hype, was a fun thing to do for me. However, now that the game is a coughing, wheezing, diseased corpse, I'd not want to run the site for it again. The DnL Stratics forums never took off the way they were supposed to, the game has been a huge disappointment for many and it's dieing a slow, miserable death. I wonder why Stratics even keeps a site for that game. It used to be worth it 2 years ago. Nowadays, it's a waste of personnel and harddrive space. "Fire is never a gentle master..."

The game has picked up the pace in the past couple of patches (and before you start on me, it's still deadly slow). Improvements have been found with respect to events, quests, roleplay, mobtypes, animations, fps and general stability. There's game content to write about in DnL, so it should be good enough for stratics if they've already got the site set-up.

No I don't work for Farlan, NP3, Snailgames, AD, BigWorld or any part of the games industry thanks. I play games. Many different games, and am playing Eve and DnL atm. DnL has started to settle down and there's probably enough stuff to warrant writing up in a fan site. So even though, as the OP says, a stratics DnL page isn't gonna break anywhere near the amount of traffic that it might have done a year ago, if they'd released the current November 2006 version of the game in November 2005, there might still be a few more players hanging around to read what ever is published.

Maybe you could try to visit vieWTerra, if your player's curiosity can still be aroused. BTW, you play Eve, which is a good MMO to me. They started slow, with their own means and they did not boast of being the best in the world right from the start, and I think they did not resort to lying their community members and/or their staff. I believe they worked hard, as real developers do. Oh BTW, did you know that the PR in charge of promoting that game had ceased working for Farlan/NPCube too in 2005? Yeah - I had a good look over your website, but my French is very poor so I couldn't really get much out of it. I like the look of some of the screenies. The landscapes look great :) If the landscape in DNL was like every other MMO I've played with either instances or "no-go" areas, then it'd have never even got my attention. But with the open, free roaming nature of the continually loading (but laggy when makign transitions between flyign and landing) landscape, it makes DnL a good place to spend an hour or so on a Saturday morning, despite all its other short comings. This is why anything coming out of your stable should be pretty impressive, imo. CCP have done well for sure. Though I had more problems with the Eve beta than I ever did with DNL, and the Eve client fails on me 1/3 of the time when loading even now in 2006 (three shots and i'm in the game, and usually stable unless I'm on fleet ops) but Eve is so far ahead of DnL a thesis woudl need to be written to cover the differences.

Thanks, The vieWTerra section of this website was spontaneously created by the former Eingana community which was awaiting for a new version of our former Eingana product. I really don't know if we will be capable of going on the long run. I really hope so, because this is a matter a passion shared between players and developers and usually passion only is not sufficient. Re the language issue, sorry, yes this is today in French only. But if English-speaking people come and ask us to test the product, at VWORLD we will be very happy to translate the main content of this website (doc, how to play etc...) and open an English language section for them. I've just come out of playing DnL for an hour - hunting bears for crafting ingredients for the Grand Master 3rd Circle crafters in ym guild. I was in my favourite part of the game area. It's a hilly area, with snowy mountains in the distance. Great to know that I'm not limited to seeing such landscapes as backgrounds only. This is how ALL MMOs should be (including Eve). I'd love to test viewTerra, for sure. Thanks! I've sent a PM with my contact details over on DNL.net (can't see where or how to do it on this website).

If you were half the man that you claim you are you would stop trying to recruit young virgin players and then offer them up to the DnL gods as sacrifice! Their blood(ill spent money.) is on your hands Feste. You festoring, pulsating, oozing sack of monkey entrails! I hope your happy in your diabolical den of iniquity!!! I'm actually just kidding though! I couldn't care less if you're still playing DnL and recruiting players...To each his own I say!!! I'm only recruiting people who are in-game. We're one of the remaining english speaking light guilds active atm. I fired back in to Eve but I keep DnL going in the background. The DNL guild, Mystical Awakening, is still active too, so I have some responsibilty to the members to ensure that we don't just fall apart because dnl failed so many others. DnL will only completely fail in my eyes when there's no one from my guild logging back in. As we are steadily gaining old and new players, I don't see that happening in the next few weeks.

So I've read. I've been a critic of your's in the past Feste. In the DnL forums and on here. But you've always been the gentlemen caller. That is why I find it so hard to find fault with you. My god! Am I going soft??? Well. If the game is getting better and those of Farlan/NpCube haven't been hauled off to prison yet. I say more power to yah! His lack of response could be trying to set up with Farlan how to steal your latest work!! LOL Honestly, I wouldnt trust a damn thing nor a damn anybody associated with Farlan/NP3/AD. And honestly, unless and until the gameplay is actually "gameplay", I dont really see the allure of great backgrounds while Im being pwnd by a level 1 mob while to top it off my armor falls off and I go LD then cant log back in cuz it says Im already there. And yes, that bug is STILL around. I just dont see the benefit of being able to see way way far off unless and until the rest of the game is as perfect as the tech that _Pix_ provided for it. Waste of time. Waste of money.

I believe the excuse was that he only has time for 1 game now and DnL is not it. However, if I was Pix, I would take that with a grain of salt. Anyone that still plays that game--no matter their excuse---is suspect to me.
