We're back under way with exclusive Hero's Journey content! After a one week hiatus, Melissa Meyer returns to answer our questions and delivers us three exclusive shots of spellcasting.

MMORPG.com: Are you doing anything to attempt to bring in first time MMO players, or are you concentrating primarily on the pre-existing fan base?

Melissa Meyer: Our focus has not been on whether we would bring first-timers or experienced players in. Rather, we did a lot of research to determine what players wanted in terms of game features, and how well their needs have been matched in existing MMOs. From there we determined the features that are unavailable in the market today, and made those our focus.

As it turns out, the data shows that players feel that many of the features they put on the top of the list are not well supported by existing MMOs. By providing a product with these features, we believe we will attract both experienced MMO players, who have been making due in other games, as well as players who haven’t come online yet because what they wanted wasn’t available.

Very nice screenshots and write up. The game seems to be comming along great.

One problem I have with the screen shots... They are the same character, monster, location, fight as the previous screen shots were from. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion.cfm/load/forums/loadforum/510/loadthread/50558/setstart/1/loadclass/35

Please give us some different fighting scenes with a new area and different mobs.

Also that mob in the screenshot is not even holding his weapon.  His hand is just as open as his non weapon hand. http://www.mmorpg.com/features/227/images/227_3.jpg

Seems pretty interesting so far, I wish simu the best of luck with this project, if they get it done, and get it done to the scale of their other games, this will be an awesome game. It shows much potential.

Out of all the upcoming MMO releases, Hero's Journey is the one that continues to peek my curiosity. I keep reading more about other releases, and getting that 'Been there done that' feeling, but HJ seems like a fresh approach in many ways.

I would like to see more races added eventually, though.
