The role of religion and the avatars of the gods is the subject of the latest developer blog on the Conan Exiles site. Each god is given a brief introduction before delving into the importance of gaining the favor of the gods on the way to the "ultimate reward for worshipping the gods" - the ability to summon their Avatar to wreak havoc on enemies.
Players will choose one of four gods on entering the game: Yog, Mitra, Set or Crom. During the game, each will look for ways to gain the favor of the gods, each in a different way. Bring enemy's hearts to Set, roast human flesh in a "Yog Pit", purify the dead in Mitra's honor.
Once the ultimate favor is reached, players will be gifted with the ability to summon the god's avatar:
Even though their power is immense, the effort needed to summon an avatar is massive. Not only do you need to have constructed a tier three altar, but you also need to have captured a high priest thrall for your religion. These are monumental tasks and all the effort which has gone into them is consumed to summon an avatar.
As the avatar, you tower over the landscape and your shift in perspective brings a new insight to your experience. Your foes are as insects and their works are insignificant, to be crushed underfoot or destroyed with a blast of powerful sorcery.
