I have a lot to be thankful for these days. I've got a wife I adore, two great kids, more than one great job, and frankly I am lucky enough to be alive and in a place at a time where my biggest daily worry is how I'm going to squeeze in more gaming time before bed.
It does not go over my head that I am one of this world's luckiest people. No, I'm not a billionaire, a celebrity, or a lottery winner. But I'm rich in love, happiness, and luck to be doing exactly what it is I was put on this world to do - be a father, a husband, and a giant nerd.
It's very easy, among the busy hours of the day to grow tired, frustrated, and downright resentful of life's daily burdens and distractions. How lucky are we then that we have a site like MMORPG.com? No, I'm not kidding. Those of you read this, those of you who come here daily despite the downturn in AAA attention on our favorite genre... you've got to realize just how lucky we are to actually be able to choose to spend our time berated and debating each other on a forum about online fantasy worlds.
So today, if you're in the US, and you're sitting down to stuff your face, watch football and parades, and maybe play a few games. Take a moment to reflect and realize just how thankful we should all be that we're not spending our days fighting for our lives or trying to escape willful tyrants who carpet bomb their own people.

No, instead I'm going to put up Christmas lights today, I'm going to eat way too much pie and stuffing, and I'm going to spend my day debating whether I play Rift, WoW, Elder Scrolls, or Guild Wars 2... before likely playing Pokemon Moon because I'm a middle-class white male who has the privilege for that to be today's biggest worry.
Every day I'm thankful to have this life, to be here in the US, and to be lucky enough to call MMORPG.com my online home. I'm thankful for all of you, and I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving... even if you're outside the US, celebrated it last month in Canada, or just plain don't like turkey.
