If the news of Borderlands 3 twitterpated you and gave you a hankering for a walk down memory lane, then you'll want to check out Borderlands 2 on PC during its free play weekend. From today through Sunday, you can play Borderlands 2 at no cost and get some sweet deals on the base game ($4.99) and the various DLC.
The creator and writer of the first Borderlands game, Matthew Armstrong, has confirmed via Twitter that he is no longer working for Gearbox. Armstrong was also instrumental in BL 2 and The Pre-Sequel. According to Game Informer, Armstrong waited until now as it seemed a perfect time to go in the lull between games.
2k has announced the release of three Borderlands-themed videos via its partnership with the University of San Francisco Academy of Arts. The three videos are available on the Machinima YouTube channel. In addition to the three, there are also "behind the scenes" videos to show off the production.
The final DLC for Borderlands 2 is available beginning today for $2.99. The team sets off for Wam Bam Island for a relaxing vacation in Headhunter 5: Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax. The DLC will end with an encounter with the son of Crawmerax, a familiar Borderlands character from the original game.
2k's blog has been updated with an announcement that a new Borderlands game is in the works. Called "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel", the game bridges the gap between the original game and Borderlands 2. Characters will play alongside Handsome Jack and bear witness to his catastrophic personality shift prior to Borderlands 2.
