In a press release published today, Sony has restructured its video game business by moving Sony Online Entertainment (currently part of Sony Pictures) to Sony Computer Entertainment.
What does this mean? It makes more sense for SOE to report to a boss who is more in touch with gaming. It's probably a move that should have happened a long time ago. Lets hope this means more accountability on Smedley's wild west approach to running SOE franchises.

Unfortunately for SCE, a lot of people stopped caring about anything SOE does long ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
Thu Mar 13 2008 3:35PMI just hope SCE do not get bad influence from SOE lol.
Thu Mar 13 2008 4:05PMMy fear goes the opposite direction. I worry that SCE will try to force SoE's MMO's into a playstation FPS style of gameplay.
If I enjoy my MMO's, I've been playing EQ for almost 6 years now and play EQII and Vanguard off and on (time permitting). I enjoy my games the way they are. If I wanted the type of game that tends to be found on consoles I would buy one.
Thu Mar 13 2008 9:22PMI hope that SCE will hold SOE accountable for their low to no profit MMOs. If that is the case, the matrix and SWG are in trouble.
Fri Mar 14 2008 6:31AMNothing will happen. Obviously SOE is turning a profit however small it might be. This move is obviously to simply mech th PS3 resources with the online/MMO gaming resources.
Anyone who thinks some big shake will happen (Smed getting fired, games being shut down, etc...) will be very disappointed.
Fri Mar 14 2008 5:54PMthe main reason for this, isnt to get smed fired or shake anything up, close down gamers or turn there games into ps3 ones, its so sce has more control over their future namely "the agency " for the ps3 and a possible PlayStation network tie in. who knows but they wouldn't port anything soe has to the ps3 all their games would look and play terrible on console
