at least for the new lap wireless card
neither one is set for it - ..... would have to drop in new ndis wrappers & manually config
seriously networking is the one and only aspect of IS/Compsci that bores the besheesus outta me - it's nitpick after nitpick after nitpick - flip this switch or register set this param ... nothing difficult just pain in the rump and non-standard as all heck
guess i'll go sans for a few weeks until i have the time to get the wireless manually working on either of them [for now fedora 9 ... maybe if hardy heron pulls ahead in drivers i'll drop that ontop of it]
well back to gcc,
peace,
x

ah checked release dates & the kernel tree to see that the networking crud i need is in 2.6.25 which is presently in rc2 status in the dev tree
the fedora alpha *supposedly* is the only alpha and beta isn't until the middle of march
hardy has alpha 5 coming out later this february - it *should* hopefully have 2.6.25 rc1 or rc2 and so that would solve my problems 1 week from today [well might be 8 days - sometimes they end up being 12-24 hours late on pushing it out to all the mirrors]
so i guess i'll be ditching fedora for ubuntu unless the fedora boys change their mind and bring out a 2nd alpha midway between the alpha and beta which has 2.6.25 - and yeah i could patch the kernel but i'd have to patch a few other things too and if ubuntu is coming out in one week i'll just screw around getting used to all the changes in kde
it's been 5 years since i used linux heavily so a few more days wait isnt a big deal - just a waste of a burned dvr and a few hours screwing with fedora 9 alpha
later,
x
