I hopped onto LOTRO for a bit today, and got one of those "Ohhhhhh" moments.
The scenary on max settings are so beautiful. I love the weather effects too. Sound isn't exactly the same as the movies, but it's still celtic-ish. Think my pc overheated after three hours or so.. not sure why but the nvidia graphics driver stopped working and game crashed.
Still, so far having fun in the Shire :P (don't mess with a hobbit hehe)

Yes it is indeed, it's a shame though that the characters and armors themselves aren't beautiful, in fact many of them are downright hideous.

Tue Aug 10 2010 7:34AM ReportI love the scenery in LOTRO as well. I have to agree some of the armor isn't so nice but at least you can use the outfits to change what you see.
Tue Aug 10 2010 8:36AM ReportLoTRO is a nice looking game with some beautiful vistas, but my problem was how many time certain textures were used. For example, the textures on those ruins look exactly the same as the textures on all the other ruins I can ever remember seeing in LoTRO.
It's the same thing for the elven villages. The first time your elf gets out of the tutorial area you're like, "Wow, that is absolutely amazing," then you realize that very elf town looks exactly like the first one, and even Rivendell has the same textures on the buildings.
Sun Aug 15 2010 11:46PM ReportYeah I love the visuals in LotRO. Probably the nicest looking game world I've seen in an MMO. I wish more games managed to pull off these kinds of landscapes. I personally don't mind the character models like most people seem to. I like everything about it graphically.
