Bots can't be Lawful Good (first impressions of DDO)

While I was playing this game, I noticed it required the playerbase to have some Intelligence. There are quests and dungeons that have puzzles that needed to be solved in order to progress.

And here's where I realizd something, the playerbase would have be literate, and be somewhat smart. They actually need to be able to speak English! There's no grind, exp are acquired from finishing quests, not killing monsters over and over.

Most surprising of all, for the first time in an MMO, I wasn't bothered by a gold farmer. The beginner's island wasn't chock full with them, in fact there were none in sight. I don't think there are even bots in this game... at least I haven't seen people complain of them.

It's a real RPG. There's even the generic rat to kill, and sewers to crawl through. It doesn't feel like a chore, and when a quest is completed, there's a real sense of accomplishment. Oh yeah~, I just saved the mayor's daughter *poses*. The DM's voice really helped set the ambiance. I would love to see this feature a lot more in other games. EVE would benefit with voiceovers, rather than plain text. Imagine hearing the Delainen ROM symbiote say "You puny humans have no sense of humour".

It's fun playing Dungeons and Dragons Online. Yep, fun. And this is all from soloing... I hope this continues when I get to an instance where I have to party with others.

sidenote: I'm new to this blogging thing, and I've been wondering.. how long should an average game blog be? Tweeter-like shortness or PhD thesis long?

I think he means bots as in most of the MMOs where some just sets their character to grind out while they go do something else.

Thank you wfSeg you just made me want to go to my local game store and buy this game, for the things you said about xp for quest, and having to have a brain to play this game you just set it aside from all the other mindless WoW and clones out there. As soon as i upgrade my pc this will be my first purchase.

The Hirelings wouldn't like being compared to a mindless bot; at least Hirelings have personality :).

It's free to download and play, but if you can find a retail box that might just be a collector's item heh.
