exploration of cave 4 on the dralk floating crystal island, the one marked by the green formation, first reveals rumiana in the upper alcove.  this dragon is the general adventure trainer - the one most new hatchlings will be directed to.  the trainer gives basic training equipment and a beginner spell (i think a training breeze, but i am not totally sure - it's been a long long time since i had to visit!) to those who seek it out.

and that's it for rumiana.  it hasn't much time for me and i don't have any for it!  come back next time to meet a trainer i do make time for!!  see ya soon!

mastering tooth and claw

the second resident of blood red marked cave 3 is periado, the tooth and claw  master.  mastery in tooth and claw allows you to do more damage without a weapon claw.  with a weapon claw, of course, the damage is even better!

head down the ramp and greet periado at the bottom.  the trainer wants you to hunt down 15 blighted kwellen, as your quest journal shows.

this is one of the quests alan helped me out with, because as you can see, blighted kwellens are no joke.  however, since alan is an alt of elek the vice god, he has a handy little spell called stress bomb.  this is not a spell that the general population has access to - it must be bestowed on worthy individuals by the gods themselves!  saying that it is similar to the energy bomb spell line is like saying a bomb made of dynamite is similar to a nuke - they both blow stuff up, but the nuke does it with more impact!

and since we were in the area to get oastics and dire wolves, it was no trouble to get the required kwellens as well.

once we were done hunting, i returned to periado, as my quest journal instructed.  the trainer was waiting to congratulate me and give me some hoard, after some sparring to test my new skills.

and with that, we are done in cave 3!  join me next time to find out who is in cave 4!

conclusions to a couple previous quests

thanx to the most appreciated assistance of vice god elek, in his guise of alan the mighty saris, i was able to get several adventurer quests done, including the quests of 2 trainers i have already covered.  so, in the interests of completeness, i present the endings for you now.

first up, severant and the drain strike VIII quest:

alan and i went to the eastern outpost to do some hunting.  once we had taken care of the needed forest oastics, as the quest journal shows, i headed back to severant in dralk, waiting patiently (notice the question mark icon, indicating a quest in progress).  severant tells you of the good job you did, and checking your character page under adventure abilities tab, you will get the lowdown on your new skill.

next, zebeginia and the hardened scales quest (there is no wiki page for this quest yet):

fortunately, there were dire wolves that counted for this quest in the eastern outpost, so while we were hunting the oastics, i was able to get about 15 wolves.  alan had to go for a while, so i ported to selen and ran to the selen forest to finish the last 5 wolves.  they are tough and they aggro, so i did rack up a death point while finishing this quest.  but, eventually, i did get the job done!  i returned to zebeginia and got the 'good job' speech.  i forgot to get the detail screenie, sorry!!

the other quests i finished are for trainers i haven't covered yet, so now you have something to look forward to!!

see ya soon with more!!

hardened scales trainer

time to meet the trainers located in cave 3, marked by a blood red crystal formation.  cross the bridge and turn to the left to find the alcove of zebeginia, the scale hardening trainer.  as you might suspect, hardened scales provides bonuses to a dragon's natural armor, with the secondary bennie of a small but sweet bonus to hit points.

you well know the routine by now - approach zebeginia, listen to its speech, check your quest journal for details.  unfortunately, the current wiki does not have this quest listed (perhaps i should update it when i do the quest), so i can't provide you with a page link.  as the name may imply, dire wolves are not to be messed about with.  at your current level, mani would be an almost instant killer.  i am level 100, so i might take him on after i have the requirements for the quest met......

and there you are for the first trainer in the third cave on the floating crystal island in dralk.  next time, we meet zebeginia's downstairs neighbor!!  see you then!
