expert gatherer trainer

there is one last gatherer trainer to meet, the expert level one.  today, we go to augh to meet dauga, the dwarven trainer.

you can find her in the last room right of the crafthall in the mine.  she sells, of course, expert forms.

keeping in mind that gatherers level in experience by harvesting and processing basic resources, they require fewer tools than other craft trainers.  however, since they can work with a larger variety of resources, they more than make up the advantage by having to carry more tools than all other skewls.

for harvesting and processing basic wood resources, one needs to have access to a tree axe of the appropriate level (for harvesting the raw wood, this requires the logging skill), a wood saw and a wood workstation - or at least a table saw machine - to process the logs into boards using your lumbering skill, and, of course, the appropriate form for the wood type you are working with (for instance, needing an expert wood board formula to make all types of wood board).

hope to see you next time, when we will begin our exploration of the miner skewl and find out some resource locations.  see you then!

there are only 2 journeyman gatherer trainers.  let's meet them!

in kirasanct, seek out malion.  you can find the trainer on the lower level of the fort, near the archway.  you can purchase mid level gatherer forms from malion.

the elven gatherer trainer is terywyn in feladan.  he can be found upstairs of the essence channeler, in the left tower.  he also sells journeyman forms.  (yes, i know i spelled his name wrong in the screenie!)

next time, we will meet the final trainer and i will show you the tools used by gatherers to harvest and process wood.  hope to see you soon!!

the first resource skewl we will explore is gatherer.  as with all basic skewls, you will meet your first trainer on the training island of new trismus.

elenna is the first trainer you will meet.  you can find her in the wood workstation in the middle of the cedar field, just off the road.  you will also meet her as part of the training quests offered on the island, as well as acquiring beginner formulas.

after leaving the training isle, you can find cassath in parsinia, a suburb of kion.  you can find him just inside the fort, in the left hand room.  he sells beginner forms like wood board and essence orbs.

moving on from kion, you will find the last resource trainer in the human city of dalimond.  nida can be found outside the city walls to the west, in the fabric workstation.  she also sells basic resource forms.

there we go with meeting the beginner gatherer trainers.  come back soon to meet the journeyman trainers!

my fave wood resource locations

as i mentioned previously, there are 2 bipeds crafting skewls known as the 'resource' skewls.  miners (we will cover this later) harvest inorganic resources - metal, stone, and gems.  first, we will explore gatherers, who work with essence, fabric (including leather and hide), papyrus (a new resource), and wood.  let's explore wood resource locations.  as usual, i will give you the wiki information, followed by my fave places for working the different tiers.  please do keep in mind that most fields, of all tiers, will most likely be guarded by treants of the appropriate level.  they can be sneaky!  in addition, there may be other creatures - instead of as well as in addition to - guarding the fields as well.

tier 1:

wiki description:  cedar is the first tier wood resource.  as such, the fields are large and quick to respawn.  most locations will have a wood workstation handy.  the wiki lists the following places, altho there are more scattered around the beginning level cities and settlements:

my thoughts:  obviously, most newbies will stay on new trismus to do cedar.  and i can dig that.  it's a good place - large field near the road with a lovely wws smack in the middle and you can easily avoid the treants.  but i like kion.  near the road, even closer to town than new tris, wws, and no treants.  however, the road is patrolled by lieutenant tarn, and he can be a pain for low level players.  we have a love/hate relationship - i love to give him the royal smackdown and he hates when i do it.  payback for all the times i had to run from him when i was still just a princess.......

tier 2:

wiki description:  after cedar, you move on to working elm.  elm is actually the most easily found wood resource.  wiki sez you can find it at these locations:

my thoughts:  there used to be a settlement called elmnic.  it was perfect for elm, as you can prolly tell.  it seems to have been repurposed, as i can't find the fine field anymore.  so, i now do my elm work at abandoned isle or dalimond.  abandoned isle must be attuned to, and it is not the normal attunement - the initial portal to the isle to greet the gatekeeper is hidden on a very narrow cliff at the north tip of scorpion isle.  someday, i will post that attunement quest - for now, if you can't get to ai, dalimond is prolly the best place.  both locations are guarded by both elm treants and ruxus, so i might suggest a babysitter if you are lower level.

tier 3:

wiki description:  the next tier wood resource is oak.  you can find it:

my thoughts:  i know oak is at mahagra.  peeps who know have told me so.  i think i even found it once.  but for me, heather is so much easier.  very large field and, back in the day when blight was more populated, lots of player wws at the settlement. alas, that is not the case nowadays, but still a good place to find oak.  there are plenty of treants, and, as an added reason to stay on your toes, a nasty boss  werewolf named storm's shadow patrols the mountain area in the middle of the field.  not to be messed with, run when you get wind of him.

tier 4:

wiki description:  if you read this drivel, you already know about maple, the tier 4 wood resource.  the wiki, currently, only listed one location, but there are at least 2 more, including a very safe location that escapes at the moment - it being very late for me and i am old and losing my memory.  but anyway:

my thoughts:  at least until i remember the other locations, i go to sanctuary bay to harvest maple.  if you are lucky enough to have some player made wws at the settlement, you will be in good shape.  there is no game wws handy.  the field is large - but heavily guarded by treants.  not a pleasant place to craft in any circumstance.
o hey, i remember another location.  it's a widespread area near mithril's anvil and the imperial outpost.  very heavily guarded by metal golems as well as treants, and baddies sometimes make their way to the area from the outpost.  sanct bay is slightly easier to deal with in that respect.
hey, i remember another place!!  harton valley - it is a settlement deep in a wide valley near tazoon.  in addition to the normal treants, the boss, bitterbranch, patrols the field.  there is a port that requires attunement.  hopefully, there are plenty of player wws to use.

tier 5:

wiki description:  yew is truly a pain in the azz resource to harvest.  no safe fields, no handy wws.  find it at these locations:
my thoughts:  DO NOT go to harro.  you will die before getting a full load of logs.  just trust me on this one.  go to yewn.  with luck, it is built up and there will be a wws handy.  you will need to run off the cliff to get to it, so make sure you know where to go, cause you don't want to get tangled with the yew treants.

tier 6:

wiki description:  ah, blessed thornwood!!  thanx again to yildar!!  both the wiki and i both agree, the one and only place for thornwood is:
  • East and southeast of Harro
my thoughts:  now, safe harvesting of thornwood depends on where you go.  east of harro, you will find the field guarded by treants.  but, if you remember, yildar told us about the area southeast of harro proper where we can safely harvest.  plus, if there are player built plots available, a handy wws near a port pad!

and so, there we have wood resources and the locations thereof.  next time, we will begin to meet the gatherer trainers.  hope to see you next time!

expert scholar trainer

there is only one expert scholar trainer, jalthor longbraid in aughundell.  you can find him in the last right room of the crafthall mine, between the scholar's desk and the essence channeler.

speaking of, scholars are responsible for making scrolls and spell shards.  in order to do this, both resources need essence orbs.  to harvest essence, one uses an essence siphon.  forming the raw essence into orbs requires both an essence shaper and an essence channeler.  unlike most other resources, essence working only requires one machine, the channeler.

scholars then scribe spells and such onto stone spell shards or papyrus scrolls.  scribing requires the use of a rune stylus and a scholar's desk.

and there we have the scholar trainers!  hope you found the info useful.  that also concludes the basic crafting skewls.  there are 2 other skewls that i consider basic - the game calls them 'resource' skewls - gatherer and miner.  we shall explore them next, starting with the gatherer skewl.  see you soon with wood resource locations to get us started!  see ya soon!
