Why do naysayers bash games that are not even out? I fully understand why games like Age of Conan get bashed on once their released. People feel that they were cheated, robbed, lied too etc. so they feel and IMO have a right to express their discontent for a game that they have invested money in. On the other hand why are there so many naysayers going after games not even released like War hammer (WAR) and Dark fall (DF) just to mention a couple. They have nothing invested in those games yet so why do the naysayers make an effort to go to a WAR board or a DF board to post how crappy something is? Its not hard to see that they will get little to no support on those boards.
I can only come up with a few reason as to why naysayers do it. Probably the main reason the naysayers bash MMO games not out is: they are insecure about their current MMO game stability. They see every new game coming out as competition to their current MMO. They have to bash something on the new ones to justify to themselves and everyone else to not play the new MMO. Its not hard to see these people forum hoping and bashing on the new MMO’s boards. Just look at the user names when reading forums you will/have seen what I am talking about.
Another reason, kind of goes with the above point but the naysayers are trying to campaign for one MMO that is being released soon that has them hyped up , and bash all the others that have a close release date. Its human nature to not want to be on the loosing side. I have seen users bash DF on the DF board and the same users praise WAR on both boards and vise versa.
Probably the worst reason naysayers hate on new MMO’s is to just razz up the “fanboys” while not even caring about the new MMO itself. This group is most likely the minority of the top two, but there are people out there who do this. It is a sad way to get you entertainment razzing up people on boards, but it happens.
If you a fan of a new MMO coming out great, I hope you like it. If you’re a naysayer of a new MMO, stay off the boards of the game you don’t like. Try bashing the new MMO on your favorite MMO boards. A lot more people will agree with you there. Naysayers on WAR or DF boards, is like an atheist going to a church trying to tell the people that there is no God. It just doesn’t work. If you don’t like the concept, graphics or whatever it is, its cool don’t invest any of your time or money in the game and stay where your at.
I disagree with your conclusions as to why there are naysayers. I think a more accurate theory is that people have been disappointed time and again by games making big promises, so much so that they have become very cynical about games in development.
Secondly, many people have a picture in their heads of the ideal mmorpg and when they see that any new mmorpg doesn't fit what they are hoping for, they have to vent their frustrations. I think it's true that developers aren't really paying attention to what most die hard mmo players are asking for, but rather they're going after what they think will bring in the most money from a broader audience.

But maybe they see fans excited about a game and literally get jealous of our happiness and excitement for the game, so they try to ruin it. Deep down they know that their posts wont actually convert us or draw so many people away from the game that it will fail...but they do it anyways just because they hate to see people happy about a game.
It is not enough for them to just post their disapproval and move on. They stay there and waste their time repeatin the same arguement. Look at this gamerman character...his sole purpose is to discredit DF. He wrote not one blog, but 2 blogs in 2 days, simply on DF. And not only to just state is opinion, but to support himself on why his opinion is right. They are a special breed.

Sun Aug 31 2008 5:44PMI bash a game which promote a critical flaw, such as better rewards linked to PvP, RvR or Raiding...aka 95% of the MMOs in developpment.
See, the thing about a game is...it is supposed to be FUN. You don't have to promote a weak gameplay, no matter what your reasons are, in doing so, you destroy everything else. Some peoples argue that it is the "endgame" and thereby okay. He who compromise on either Liberty or Security deserves neither. The ending of the game must be just as good as the start, so I keep playing or go, always remaining happy with the game, making me leave angry is poor thinking and marketing.
WAR? Checked, it deserves a LOT of bashing. Yet, I felt it is pointless, live and let's live, I told them a few times, I move on. I rather praise Imperator, than bash WAR, and I assume that Mythic would rather speak with me about Imperator, than about something I view as a "insert negative opinion here".

This is my opinion only and not shared by many but I strongly disagree that better rewards through raiding, pvp, etc are a critical flaw, as these make players stay longer. just look at AoC where the best gear was made through gems which could be bought which favors RMT. Now that my friend is a critical flaw IMO. You just sparked my next blog Idea.

We bash because its a competition, because we enjoy making fun of others. We bash because of unrealistic promises yet again by developers who rarely, if ever deliver. We bash because no game will ever meet all of our expectations.
These forums are for discussion, and bashing is one form of it. Those who prefer not to participate should probably find another place to hang out or not read our threads.
And we bash blogs, because most of them are a waste of space.

Bashers/haters are just taking down the fanbois a notch. Not because they are afraid for their games. But cause most games today are overhyped as the MMO to end all MMOs. Or it is claimed XX game will destroy all competition.
Perhaps it is simply that the Naysayers are sick of the fanbois hyping a game to no end.
