More Thoughts On WAR...

As of now I have four characters in T2 and 1 character in T3. I get bored of playing the same class over and over and I find it much more entertaining to spread out my playtime between several different characters. With this latest even (Heavy Metal), it made me feel like Mythic is going to pull the same trick every game company does. They are going to try and Shock and Awe us.

I just dont understand this mentality. I see several glaring problems with this game.

Morale abilities still dont fucking work when you press the button. I mean seriously. This is like a core game mechanic and it still doesnt work? So your going to throw out two more classes when core mechanics still dont work? Its like building a jet and designing a cool new directional thrust system when the plane dont even fly yet.

This also brings to mind that certain classes are broken or better yet, unfinished. My main is an engineer. I have plenty of problems with this class. I love the idea of it. If you want to have any significant effect it seems your forced into grenades. Your abilities will focus on spreading out damage. So mostly, you wont feel like your accomplishing a lot til you see the damage counter at the end of the scenario. Specing rifle makes you feel like you should have rolled a Bright Wizard like 90% of your server did. I love knockbacks. As annoying as they can be, knockbacks are what an Engineer is good at. To bad your best knockback is a morale ability and you can not rely on it to even work. Example in crater t3, i aoe rooted this shaman so i could aim the punt correctly. Ten fucking seconds of pounding the fucking button and he walks away. I chased him til about 40 secs later I die and the damn ability didnt ever go off...

I wont get into the fact that Shadow warriors, Squigs, and Magus are so ineffectual its a joke. I wont get into the fact that most of these classes can not solo a tank or a healer, unless the tank/healer is a complete retard or you outlevel them by a decent amount. I wont get into the fact that every time i play this game i get stuck inside some object multiple times and have to log out.

I will bring up the horrible maps and the problems that they cause. This is especially a problem on a lot of scenarios. I mean, seriously, lets put a huge cliff at the beginning of every fucking scenario. Lets also crank up fall damage to a rediculous amount. I would say 5/10 times when i walk off the start area in crater, i wont begin to heal for 30+ seconds. The other 5 times I insta heal all the damage. So basically 50% of the time I enter combat half dead. Heh. Moronic map designs or is it rediculous fall damage.

So with all these problems why release two more classes. Why not fix whats here, then add new content. With all that said...

WAR brings a lot to the table as far as PvP goes. I play this game to PvP and it does try to cater to that. Leveling through PvP is much better than when the game released. World PvP is decent on my server. Senarios are still the main form of leveling, but they are making strides to correct this. I just hope they actually fix the core problems with this game. I would hate to see them pull a Warcraft and simply ignore problems and try to distract us with new game content.

they are heavly testingand trying to fix some of these with the public test server but they also stated that there will be a percifically a battle/charecter review patch that will focus on completly balancing and issues on top of the 1.06 stuff they are fixing.

you can also see what they are trying to do and see that they are addressing alot of these concerns at http://testforums.eamythic.com/

You are right, Raf & Snow, but the problem is that Mythic delayed the release of this game twice to "put on the polish" and released a half-assed dissapointing piece of shit. Two crafting skills, four classes missing, and more bugs than a free Korean click-to-play grindfest. Mythic failed. Everyone who bought this game (myself DEFINATELY included) is a sucker. </rant>

I feel like double the sucker for pre-buying the game, for all the bonuses that would give. Like, and it may sound superficial, being able to pick a nice name for your character. I cannot say I was happy when my servers were two of those chosen to merge onto other servers, and every one of my characters would have needed a name change. Every one. I had already unsubbed for the reasons above though. But I'd hoped to return someday after they'd had a chance to fix things. Returning only to be forced to rename all my characters though? Lame, when pre-buying should have prevented that.

I tried to refrain myself from commenting cause I know if my guild mates see that I am posting this that they will be unhappy but I am sick of seeing this crap.

First off, your a freaken baby, if you don't like it, STFU and quit don't go and whine about a bunch of a little problems when you didn't even spend the time getting to 40. Now lets go down the list;

Morale abilities, known issue, being worked on.

Your argument about the classes being broken is something everyone complain about "cause my class aint the pwnests!". Get over it, a bright wizard is meant to do massive damage, an Engineer has way more survivability and CC over the BW. Another notition that when you mean the statement  "to have any significant effect" is it that you mean toping damage charts? I have played an Engi and topped damage charts and kill rates over BWs without having to use gernades, it's called being able to play the class. Even so, topping damage charts isnt even the point, your point is to KILL PEOPLE, doing more damage don't mean you kill more people that's why they have healers. I could sit and beat on a tank who is being healed and top damage charts but thats pointless since I don't kill him.

Next issue, if you played a Shadow Warrior and couldn't take out a healer then your retarded. A SW can easily take out healers IN LATER LEVELS, like when you get abilities, but you probably got it to 12 and assumed it would be super awesome against a level 20 healer.  A Skirmish spec'd shadow warrior in late T2 can rape damage charts and snipe healers like nothing. Assault spec don't get it's big boost till around rank 25. The thing is that they are LONG RANGED, they are not meant to go one on one with anything especially tanks. Compare to your complaint about a BW, they ain't going to solo a tank either.

Your issue with getting stuck with objects must just be bad luck, out of the times I have played, even in beta, I have only gotten stuck three times and only 1 wasn't due to my own fault. Plus there is a /stuck that makes it so you don't have to log.

The cliff thing is just another baby complaint, I have never had falling off them EVER be an issue and I jump off them as far as I can and have never been not fully healed by the time I was in combat. So, go cry about something else pointless.

As stated before by me and the others commenting, the classes are already being balanced before the new classes come out and have been tested, but you wouldn't know that since apparently you havn't touched the game since the free month or you would know some of these issues were being addressed or fixed.

true and but not quite true, they said that the engineer is not quite performing as they wanted to and they are working on that, some ideas they have said is to increase the damage of the core of thier mastries and they also said they are trying to balance the core  principles of the mastries.

example, lets say you take the damage spec path, that want over all including your auto attack and skills in general to more damage than all the other mastries, and one of the ways they are looking at to apply this to the engineer is adding some of the fixes that they did to the shadow war (oh man these guys have imrpoved SO MUCH), and alot of other ides that they are looking into and that they find intresting, they did say that most of the changes they are panning will not come with 1.06 but they did say they will have a combat review patch before 1.1

Even though ive not played WAR I understand the OP's frustration.

Yes, of course there will be fixes, and the people who have replied dont seem to understand the message of this Blog.

I notice people mentioning that 'All will be fixed'  but its like this, if its ALL going to be fixed in one patch, why wasnt it correct in the first place?  If its such an easy fix to do.

Also, Ive been around this BBQ a couple of times before, just because there is a balance patch in the making doesnt mean it will correct the balance! - Balance corrrections can go on for months or years.  - Look at AoC!

So I agree, with the problems WAR has I am suprised they are introducing two new classes so soon.

Lotro has introduced 2 new classes and a level cap increase, but this is well after 18 months and many many many patches.  Only now do they have a very good, tried and tested game upon which to build on.

After the release of MoM they are already balancing things out.

If your expecting "everything to be fixed" in just one patch your sadly mistaken.

What this all points to is poor development procedures and planning, no matter what you do, if you cant plan properly then the product will constantly have problems..  TR being the latest victim of such poor dev planning.

Im sorry if I hurt your fanboi ego. My bad for not leveling to 40. I have no idea why retards like you believe that everyone should hit max level before having an opinion. ENDGAME is not fucking everything. There are levels 1 through 39 also. So to you only 1 level matters, that of 40. To me all fucking 40 levels matter. Now to attack each retarded statement that you have made.

" an engineer has way more survivability and CC over a BW ".

Yes. An engineer has 2 knock backs, a knock down, and an interrupt.  To bad, as I said earlier, you can not rely on your best knock back due to shit game mechanics. So now you have a grenade knock back, which lets say you do get a point blank off, this grenade knock back will no longer function due to immunity or is it a game bug, fuck if I know. You have a melee snare and a melee aoe root. The BW has the root. The melee snare gets you perma snared by any smart melee. If you count landmine, yes its a cool aoe kd for 2 seconds. Lately, when I use it, they fall and immediatly pop up and run. Sweet, more bugs. Flack jacket = more survivability? Well if you do an SC, be prepared to blow the first few secs of every match and every death walking out of the spawn to cast it. Cause if you cast it in the damn spawn, it will not have the correct Armor Modifier. Hmmm, another bug or just poor design? Now we have flash bang, id say 50% of the time it actually interupts someone. Its a 1 sec cast, so you cant really time it perfectly...

" A skirmish spec'd SW in late T2 can rape damage charts and snipe healers like nothing"

" Assault sperc dont get its big boost til around rank 25. The thing is that they are LONG RANGED "

Hmm, so your saying skirmish spec and assault spec are long ranged? Last i checked split arrows, which is what allows a skirmish spec to top damage charts, was tied to spiral fletched which has a max range of 65 feet. Hmmm, that sounds like engineer range, which I would call close to medium range. A skirmish speced SW isnt going to rape a healer at long or close range. A skirmish spec is going to spread damage out in hopes that the healer is overwhelmed. Its a harrassment spec. It is not a single target killing spec.

" Plus there is a /stuck that makes it so you dont have to log. "

Maybe this is just for me (sarcasm), but when i type /slash, it doesnt port me to a rally guy, it logs me the fuck out...

Game just got too many problems. Mythic did, like alot of the other braindead developers we got out there making mmo's, they tried to make a wow clone. Ofcourse they failed miserably and we now see the result. I regret buying this game, and I never done that before. I didn't even manage to finish my free month before I was sick to death with it. As usual, developers promise much, and delivers little. Engine problems plague this game aswell. How bloddy hard can it be to program a bloody graphics engine? Other developers manage to do this, but not mmo developers. What make the graphic engine so damn hard to make in an mmo, that is easilly done in almost any singleplayer game? Not even Blizzard manage to do this right. Their new graphic engine they programmed for WotLK stutter alot on NVidia based systems, and they got all the money in the world and can hire the best the business got to make this shit. Even with all that, they make buggy crap, and release it almost untested to the public. Pathetic, just bloody pathetic.

I will only say that everybody has the right to be disappointed if they have spent their hard earned bucks a in game. WAR is far from they promised (WAR is everywhere?), but I have to admit that I had fun the first two weeks. I think, however, that this game will improve a lot with time. For me, classes differences or morale broken mechanic are only something that will get fixed, not really important. What made me left WAR was simply... the boredom of the lonelyness. PQs with no one running around are sad. Perhaps was my server and rest are full of ppl playing, but I dont care, I am not here to find a solution, I want to play. If they cant balance servers pop or create another, better system like CCP did, you are done if pop drops.

I waited a long time for WAR and it was fun for at most a month, then the scenario grind just got old. I wanted world PvP, if I wanted instance battles I would of played WoW. The concept behind WAR I thought was great, the implementation was horrible. I have been playing online games for 10 years now, have seen em come and go. Generally speaking when a new game comes out and they immediatly have to offer free character transfers or balance the classes dramatically it means that either the game sucks or they put it out just a wee bit to soon.

For the puds that always pull the get to 40 and play, get a freakin clue. It is max level people like you that ruin the games that come out, it is always about reaching max level. Games should grab you and hold you at every level, it shouldn't be get to max level in order to enjoy the game. WAR right now is fail in my eyes, others see it differently, that is everyone's right. If the game ever gets to where it was anticipated it would be I might go back and check it out. Until then am back to waiting for the next game that promises it won't be epic fail.

No one can deny that WAR had/has A LOT of problems. People always say that WoW was the same way when it released, however seems to me if I am putting a game out to take away WoW players I will at least make sure that upon release it is actually better and more stable than what WoW is at time of my games release. Saying that WoW had problems so it is ok for WAR and other games to have problems is just idiotic thinking and denial.
