My opinions on WAR Tier 1...

  [Leveling]

My prefered method of leveling is through world PvP. At Tier 1, leveling through world RvR is extremely slow. Having said that, I would be fine with leveling extremely slow, aslong as in doing so, i am having fun. One of the main problems with leveling through world and scenario RvR is equipment and how it effects each individual class...

 [Equipment]

Equipment is an important factor in this game. Depending on your class, gear can make or break you. Certain classes can perform quite respectable in low end gear and certain classes can not. The biggest issue that I have with this game, is how you attain equipment.

The only reliable way to attain the equipment that you need is to complete PQs. Personally, I almost refuse to PvE. This is a personal choice that I hoped this game would support. This game does not. Now your going to say, " hey, use renown gear". Lets take a look at how flawed the renown system is set up in Tier 1. Next time you visit a renown vendor pay close attention to the gear. You get like boots, then gloves, then possibly a main body, then eventually a weapon, with scattered trinkets. So where are the helms and shoulders for Tier 1 renown. Ive seen drops for shoulders and helms for level 1s.

Equipment is a huge part of RvR in tier 1. For those of you who think equipment doesnt matter think about this, my black orc has over 600 armor at level 11 with over 2700 hitpoints. This armor puts me over 65% mitigation. Tack on the 200 armor buff for the black orc shield bash and you got a beast.

If you play somewhat like I do. You will notice that your renown rank is always equal to your level. This is a flawed way to play the game due to how equipment is given out. To equip a level 10 renown item requires you to be level 15. So the way they set gear up forces you to be higher than than renown rank. With how slow you level through world RvR, this causes problems.

I believe simple changes to how gear is attained through RvR and an increase in world RvR experience gain, people with my style of play will be more likely to stick around.

Would you care to elaborate on what "simple changes " need to be made to keep you happy?

Otherise all you have done here is complain without offering a solution.

It's in interesting opinion you've got there, and i have to agree with the people that really prefer that pvp based side, and would like to focus alot more on that, there should be little changes in the equipment, i do agree with you, this is something worth considering.

Obviously im talking about changes to renown gear. I believe Renown gear should be as good if not better than PQ gear. This is an RvR game. So wouldnt it make sense that the best gear is gained through RvR?

Are you simply not reading what i posted? The last paragraph man, it says simple changes on how gear is gained through RvR along with a higher xp gain through world RvR.

Also, an Xp_off/on toggle would be nice. Some people will enjoy a certain tier more than the others. So these people should be allowed to stay there. Not everyone will want to advance to max level...

So you found a game where you can PVP and actually lvl.  But wait.. thats not good enough, your not lvl'ing fast enough, also the gear isnt good enough for you..

So let me get this.. you want to lvl even faster with pvp get better gear easier and pretty much have no effort what so ever.

Maybe you should go play the other games that fit your play style of leveling up with pvp if this one is so bad.  It seems nothing makes you happy.

Also there is no lvl 1 shoulders and helms.

Mirgo my dwarf has level 1 shoulders. Look him up. Sea of Malice. Now that I have proven you wrong...

Am I asking for gear with no effort? Nope. What I am saying is, if I can spend 3 hours in PvE and get better gear and 5x the xp, than this isnt an RvR based game.

Ive gotten 2 purple items from looting corpses in RvR scenarios, you really should understand your experience isnt the only one.

First off, on this shoulder and helm deal you are upset about. Yes it is possible to have shoulders at a very low lvl, i agree with that, but it wasn't from a PQ.

A freind of mine was out doing a regular quest and some shoulders dropped off a animal kill.

Helms are a much differant story. You won't start seeing any type of helm's being given away from PQ's until atleast lvl 15.

Pretty much all tier one weapons, armor and even classes are very vanilla. Once you reach tier 2 and lvl 15, things start to kick in and even out.

I also can't understand why you keep associating tier 1 gear with RVR. Have you even been to one of the capital cities and looked at the renown gear and jewerly you get in tier 3 and 4.

I personally mix up RVR and PVE to gear up and found it to work very well in both situations. My lvl 20 Marauder with tier 2 gear can take out a lvl 26 regular spawn. So, things to get better.

Gear is important but it's not as important than tactics in RVR. You get a highly coordinated guild in RVR and they could all play naked and still control the situation and win.

If you havnt noticed im talking about tier 1 RvR. Im also not upset about shoulders and helms. Somehow we are not on the same page.

What I am upset about is, My black orc geared up through RvR and PvE. With my black orc, several times, have I walked up to 3 others players and dropped them easily. Obviously, certain classes are better suited to fighting certain classes. The problem that I see is when im fighting 3 others and one of them is a tank like me and the reason that I kill all 3 is because of the gear that I am wearing that I have gained through PvE. At tier 1 the gear is trash until you reach lvl 8. Therefore, to supplement your desire to RvR effectively, you must PvE...

Thats part of the design of Tier 1 though. You really shouldn't be worried too much about PVP, until you reach Chapter 3 PVE. Thats when you reach the first camp, thats when you get the gear, etc etc. As for shoulders and helms it was common in other MMOs for certain types of gear not to drop until you got higher levels. You need to think of Chapter 1 and 2 as more of a tutorial period.

Now that Ive gone threw Tier 1 5 times with 5 different classes (both Dest and Order), Ive noticed that one common reason people can get destroyed in PVP is cause they haven't reached lvl8 where they get all the abilities they need to really start PVPing effectivly.

Obviously you use a Black Ork and I have to say the tanks for Dest are really easy to use and can smash threw a lot more then the Order tanks, which feel more defensive based then their counter parts. One of the biggest balance beefs Ive heard about from alot of players is the difference in tanks between Order and Dest, most saying the Dest Tanks are stronger or that their battle mechanic makes them stronger. Although on Tier 2 Dest, you'll hear Dest Tanks whine about how Order get a knock down skill before them. My Witch Hunter was just avergae in Tier 1, then I hit Tier 2 and now ranged players pray to the PVP gods, cause fleeing and snares wont save them, due to the abilitess I have in my arsenal.

You have remember though its only been the first month, there are unforseen balance issues everywhere.

If you want to get the best gear, you really have to do a bit of everything. I'll agree with you that in Tier 1 you get more gear in PVE, but once you reach Tier 2 half of your work goes into PVP for the average player. Is the games big focus PVP? Yes it is, but their not going to just drop PVE all together.

i agree with your statement in its whole ..
im a squig herder and atm tier 2 is the best rvr i have no skills to target a heavy armour order ( as in i dont do near enough dmg) even with have over 300+ balistics and 200+ wep skill at lvl 18
its just like u said  a lvl 1 going into tier one is well just noobish.. A. you dont have the gear to stand upto any atks or deal any real dmg B. you lack the skills.. althought me being lvl 18 in a tier2 rvr which is a suitable lvl for it has little to do with this tier 1 pvp drama.. it was more a point to how commi mentioned order tanks complain about dest tanks and dest tank complaing about order knock downs.. there is a balance issue at hand but  ill say it one ITS ONLY BEEN NEAR 2 WEEKS. give it time like hell WoW was no were near perfect when it came out and this game already surpassed WoW so hell stop complaing about  not enough expierence or gear ratios..

they based this game on economy so work together make friends gain a strong guild and BATTLE!

+1, this is supposed to be a pvp focused game, but still pve is more focused that pvp while you haven't reached the lvl cap. Before the launch, I hoped pvp lvling and gearing would be viable to help me compete with others, but unfortunately it doesn't.

If you are just entering any teir say lvl 1 in a 1-11 teir you are going to get owned.  You do not have the skills higher players in the teirs have.  Mythic has done a great job by boosting your level to lvl 8 but you still lack the skills a lvl 8 player has.

I am now in teir three and really it is not so much gear based as it is skill based.  I now run with my guild or firends and do contribute to the RVR or scenarios as opposed to doing the pug thing.

Leveling in PVP is fine for me.  During the first PW players flew and got teir two items and then flew back to teair one and owned everyone.  That was changed and was a bug.  I know I cannot and for the most part beat higher level pvper's with better skills and gear one on one.  But as a group i should and I do contribute to a higher level players demise.

I will actually agree with you on the Renown gear.. they chaned it from what it was.. the renown gear at one time was amazing.. and it was up to par with pve gear.. but the complainers killed it by saying it was too Over powered and pvp gear shouldn't be good or better then pve gear..

So mythic went and nerfed the shit out of it..

Now heres the problem last night i went to IC main city and i checked to see how bad the gear actually is at top renown.. i am seriously pissed off how bad it really is..

The lvl 27 renown 24 gear is a tad bit worse then the lvl 40 renown 75 LEDGENDARY gear. i seen a 2-3 stat increase on some stats and a few more set bonus nothing that makes you want to focus on high renown for that gear at all.. I am sorry when my lvl 25 to 30 green gear with no renown req can beat out the top PvP renown LEDGENDAY gear there is something wrong.
