Well it is no secret that I have anxiously been awaiting the Champions Online beta, and finally this past week I and my Superteam (or a guild as some may say) got word that the beta invites were going out to all our members. In order to do this we had to be formed and present ourselves as a valid team in the Champions community, and I think we did this well. I had to scramble to get our logo, site and team goals up (I am in charge of setting the ST site up and recruiting) but we did it just in time and low and behold I was contacted and then I shared our team info with the Cryptic manager.
While we number only about 14 people, it was great to get a direct email from the Community Manager over at Cryptic and to talk to her. They approach the beta invites very smoothly and I managed to get the email addresses for all our superteam to her and now we just await the final email! The superteam is progressing nicely and Sunday night on Ventrilo we are actually going to have a pen and paper Mutants and Masterminds session. That’s right, we are going retro and playing an actual RPG. It will be a full on nerd out.
As such I will be spending less time writing here and more time paying full attention to my superhero blog that I started up dedicated to comic books and Champions Online when it releases. I don’t want to bore all Hideout readers with just straight Champions Online talk so I will post that elsewhere, and as I did with the Warhammer Online beta I will take notes and share my stories once the game goes live. Until then the NDA wrap will keep me pretty silent and I want to devote full play time to it. I have canceled all other MMO’s for the time being. Until Conan runs out I will be playing it and I have to admit it has improved to the point where, at least at the early levels, I can give it a thumbs up. Of course no MMO can be reviewed until end game hits for the most part but I have to say that Conan has really improved itself.
Baseball season starts Sunday, my lineup is set and I am a little above lukewarm with the job I did in my draft. I took Grady Sizemore with my number one pick but later on focused on pitching. As such the power in my lineup suffered a tad bit but I am hoping with the dominant arms I have hurling the ball that I can score a bunch of points.
Now it is time to finish off that New Avengers hardcover and get ready to catch up on Iron Man.
