Now Ive told everyone why item malls are good, evryone needs to know why there bad.  Item malls put a bad reputation on the game. They make people think the game makers want people to become obssed with there game. Why do people think this? Because the game makers do . Item malls sell stuff to people for real money. And this stuff is for the game! Im not talking about expansion packs and membership fees. Im talking about stuff such as, amour, wepons, special items, money, cheats ect. It makes people start spending ther money untill there broke. It also give them so much rare stuff that people start doing nothing else but the game. Item malls also alow people to cheat. Im sure alot of poeple dont like cheaters. Because there getting all this free stuff. So then you get mad and you start using the item mall, and the entire thing starts over again.

Please state if you agree or not

I don't agree, the item malls aren't too addictive if you can handle money, if you can't than you really need to stop using mummy and daddy's credit cards. Some people like getting an edge to a game without playing too long. Is this wrong? No, but you can't get decent gear in most MMOs without a massive timesink so they allow them to buy it. I don't really know what you mean by cheaters though... I don't like item malls and obviously you don't either however that doesn't mean they are wrong just a different way to play.

Well I see where you are coming from. Its a familiar argument. Its a good strong argument.

EVE Online has a sanctioned way to acquire ingame goods with real money and their title still does well (please look at their dev blogs on ETC/GTC for yourself). EVE Timecodes makes the game easier for everyone

I am not against tho simply just making everything casual and easy to acquire. I much rather my player skill do all the talking anyway. But thats why I play FPS/RTS etc alongside MMOs.

It's complicated. I agree with both blogs u wrote:

Item malls are GOOD

Item malls are SUCK

I dont mind unbalancing ways to introduce ITem malls. Like make me high level (like Guild Wars allow ya to buy all powers). But its done in a way that doesnt unbalance the game

I am open to an Item mall that allow me to buy new outfits and such and it doesnt unbalance the game. It can be whatever, jsut balance the game and make it fair for all

<I hate too much grind so that real reason why I avoid most Asian MMO actually>

I think there's a middle path. Item malls have good points and bad points. To reiterate

The Good Points

*People are likely to find ways to cheat in a game regardless. People who cheat will find ways to cheat. They are more likely to take the easiest path. Gamemakers aren't stupid.

*MMORPGs are synonomous with a waste of time. Which is why single player games still sell well on PC. This cuts down on your time until the fun begins factor.

*Time is money, if you waste twelve months getting to a certain point in a game that you could have spent more money up front and then saved money in the long run. Not to mention a lot of frustrations.

Now the Bad

*In a well made game you shouldn't ever need to buy stuff from a mall. You should have plenty of things to keep you busy for a long time. It's call adding content to the game if need be.

*It frustrates people, because those who want to have fun but don't have a lot of time, are forced to spend additional money. The games become tailored for you to not have fun unless you either spend money or a lot of time. They don't care to find other ways. It's like cheating for gamemakers.

*You're giving more money to a company that took an easy way out.

I think gamemakers should have item malls, for parts of their games. PVP or the first 1/3 of a game. But more importantly game makers need to come up with innovative ideas that keep players interested in their games while making them difficult enough to make their subscriptions last up to a year.
