A Journey of Monsterous Proportions

I woke up in the middle of a crowded street today. Lucky for me I wasn't trampled or run over while I slept... this afternoon Zanesville was as crowded as ever. As I walked through Zanesville on the way to a local merchant I couldn't help but notice a sand buggy, two different motorcycles, an armored horse, and some other horses and vehicles zipping about town or parked outside a shop.

I realised that I needed some transportation, and I needed it soon. A short walk outside of Zanesville I came to a stable where I purchased a horse and some feed, with some ragged leather I found I was able to fashion myself a bridle. After all was said and done, and I was out just about all of my chips, I decided it was time to go back to town and see if I could find some work.

As my horse trotted along I came upon a shoddy looking metal shed where a man stood with an inquisitive look. After speaking with him he told me that he was a Franklin Rider, and that he had some work for any interested parties that could spare some time and a horse. Luckily I had just that, and within moments I was off across the central plain to a town called the Embry Crossroads.

As I rode the expansive land I was astounded by the amount of debris, trash, animals, and militants I came across. Although I was on a mission, it didn't stop me from stopping to "smell the roses" so to speak, but more precisely stopping to rummage through piles of trash or kill the odd cow for some leather. I was also excited to find my map, pasted to the top right corner of this entry, in which I plotted my whole course from the start of my day, to the finish.

On my journey I passed by a small depot, where I stopped to unload some items I created from various scraps I found. I also picked up a small job to collect some scraps from a band of hooligans outside of town. When I arrived at the location the man specified the gang was little match for me and the Zip Guns I was able to make from a recipe in one of the books I picked up yesterday. Upon checking their pockets for chips and extra supplies I found a Monster Hunt coupon? I wasn't quite sure what this was, but I took it all the same.

After taking my reward of Chips from the man at the depot I headed toward Embry Crossroads and happened by an old abandoned theme park that I was able to get a picture of. It felt almost eerie, knowing that such a place was once meant for fun and entertainment. Now it is a reminder of the beaten and broken world we live in today.

Overall I would say that the journey took about twenty minutes, not counting stopping to fight, mine, loot, and maim.

When I reached the Embry Crossroads I was astounded at how many people there were. I thought Zanesville was crowded, but it was nothing compared to this. As I dismounted my horse I walked through and spoke to local merchants. I found the contact I was supposed to meet from the Franklin Rider's and he paid me hansomly for completing my task. As I headed back to my horse, there was talk of the Embry Monster Hunt. Apparently it was just north of Embry Crossroads. Curious, I headed north, past the giant satellite dish and into a clearing where a little wooden shanty stood. Apparently the Monster Hunt was underway, and assistance was needed to fund the monster hunt. Unfortunately I was not ready to part with my chips and low on time, but I marked the spot on my map to return to when I had more chips.

I headed back to the crossroads and spoke to another gentleman who asked me to head to OilVille to complete a task that had been requested of him. I graciously accepted and headed out to OilVille. On my way, I met another traveler like myself by the name of Tido. We traded some goods and spent a good time talking about where we were headed and decided to help eachother on the way. When we reached OilVille I felt it be best to get some rest for the busy day ahead of me. I tied my horse up next to a shop, and slept.

I am enjoying it :)   At one point Aganazer I thought you said you'd be giving it a try, I think you'd like it too.  It is a little more time consuming then CO but the fun aspect is there.

I know my blogs have been a little more story-ish but my next few will relate more closely with the game world (from an in-game perspective).

I got to level 10 in the FE beta. I recognize the areas you're talking about. Been to the junk fortress yet? The quests for it were from Embry Crossroads if I remember correctly. Getting some quests done around there was about as far as I got.

I've got about one month left in CO before I've seen all I can handle. Then I'll be playing FE. I've got a hunch that it will have a bit more staying power than CO.

FE beat out Aion in last weeks D2D sales so word is getting around. I just hope the FE devs can keep up with demand and get housing in before long. FE may end up being the sleeper hit of '09. Hell it IS the sleeper hit of '09. :)

Anyway, keep up on the Blog. Those are some good stories. Unfortunately they are making me lose interest in CO before I was planning.
