So, one of two things will happen:
1. They will make the end game raids too easy and raiders will cry.
2. They won't make end game accesable and casuals will cry.
I just don't see a way you can win/win this one.
Wed Sep 03 2008 5:38AM Reportwhy not? you could make both kind of raids like., easy ones for the casual players with a couple of nice drops,
Wed Sep 03 2008 6:06AM Reportand harder ones for the harcore players with better armor sets.
and ofc the casual players could join those harder ones too when they got those couple of nice items from the easier raids :)
imo
All instances/raids should scale dynamically with the overall quality of the party's armor. It's the only way to make it accessible and challenging for all players. Of course the loot should also dynamically scale in relation to the difficulty.

Wed Sep 03 2008 8:47AM ReportI forsee with the 10/25 person versions of each raid, they will make the 10-person versions a little easier then the current 10-person raids, yet keep the difficulty/challenge of the 25 person raids right about where it is at right now.
Why?
Every raid having a 10-person mode and being a little easier means they are a lot more accessible. Yet, you still also have a progression through raids with increased reward.
Even if you concur all of the 10-person raids, you still have the 25-person raids with an entire Tier difference in armor quality to tackle.
I think it's a pretty ingenious way to please both the casual and hardcore raiding crowd. The hardcore will enjoy the challenge and increased loot in the 25-person raids and the casuals will enjoy the easier, more small-guild friendly 10-person mode.

Wed Sep 03 2008 9:46AM Reportwow that's a bad mistype
Uh, increasing the level gap will make casual and hardcore players closer? Wouldnt it do the opposite instead? Raid players will have great gear even before the casuals hit 80.
It can still be fun for both but they will get more and more away from eachother whatever Blizzard do.
Wed Sep 03 2008 12:23PM Report(sigh) it will align them for a whole 2 weeks that it take to hit cap.
Wed Sep 03 2008 1:11PM Reportits the same as BC. its a nice way of saying "all your gear is now outdated"
by the time you got to 70 in BC, you had replaced almost everything you had from pre-BC (I was somehow still using my blue helm and epic belt from ZG) with greens/blues. mostly quest rewards, a few 5man drops from getting to 70.
this means hardcores have to start-over on their gear grind, they'll be in level 80 greens/blues, and then kit out in full blues and start on the grind to epics in raids/hardmode (or simply save up all their honor now for level 80 welfare epics)
So it will put them closer together, but only for a short time before the hardcore players get hardcore and grind to fully epiced tier 586 gear and the casuals are just in season 5.
Wed Sep 03 2008 2:57PM Reportrodney1415, this is called Standard Instance and Heroic Instance. They already have that system you're idealizing.
Wed Sep 03 2008 9:51PM ReportI have always hoped they would make raids for smaller groups. Of course I have no problem with the item rewards not being as badass as the ones you would get from a typical 25-man. It is the content that I want to see in the first place, the rewards come second. Having 10-mans would allow me to see some of the content that I normally wouldn't be able to enjoy.
Thu Sep 04 2008 1:39AM Reportif you havent played warhammer online beta then you prolly havent seen the great new way loot plays out in quests and Open Raids aka public quests. im not going into detail but you shall soon see on the 18th why the makers of the best online pvp "dark age of camelot" have made a game with games workshop aka the best tabletop gaming makers to create a trully awesome game deeper and i would say 100x better than wow. i play a 70 frost mage named malisizsick on sargeras and ill prolly /delete my toon when it arrives. Watch and see the devastion to wow as blizzard will have to bust out diablo 3 for retaliation or some other concealed money maker. My money is on the WAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
